Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
Blue Origin's New Glenn Component Test team designs, builds, and operates the test systems used to qualify and accept hardware across the New Glenn launch vehicle. We are a diverse team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are committed to a culture of safety. This position directly impacts the history of space exploration and requires a commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable space flight.
We are seeking a Data Acquisition and Controls Engineer II to support the entire Component Test team on a fixed-term basis. In this role you will develop data acquisition (DAQ) systems and create the electrical schematics and harness/wiring diagrams that instrument, power, and interconnect our test stands. You will work hands-on across a broad range of component test activities, partnering with test, manufacturing, and responsible engineers to turn data acquisition requirements into reliable, well-documented electrical designs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design and document electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable/harness assemblies for component test systems supporting the New Glenn program
- Develop, configure, and maintain data acquisition (DAQ) systems to capture, condition, and manage measurements from instrumented test articles and test stands
- Integrate and wire sensors and instrumentation - including pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, load cells, and accelerometers - selecting appropriate signal conditioning and grounding schemes
- Create and maintain harness drawings, wire lists, connector pinouts, and interconnect documentation to support fabrication, checkout, and troubleshooting
- Specify and select DAQ hardware, signal conditioning, cabling, connectors, and related electrical components
- Support the build, checkout, and commissioning of test systems, including continuity checks, instrumentation calibration verification, and end-to-end signal validation
- Collaborate with test and responsible engineers to define instrumentation and measurement requirements, channel lists, and data architecture
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, wiring, and DAQ issues during tester bring-up and test operations
- Maintain thorough documentation of electrical designs, harness configurations, and instrumentation setups under configuration control
- Provide instrumentation and electrical support to the broader Component Test team and support test execution activities as needed
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test infrastructure, electrical design standards, and instrumentation practices
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
- 2-5 years of relevant professional experience
- Demonstrated ability to create and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness/interconnect drawings
- Working knowledge of data acquisition principles, including sensor types, signal conditioning, grounding/shielding, and analog-to-digital conversion
- Hands-on experience integrating and wiring instrumentation (pressure transducers, thermocouples, load cells, strain gauges, etc.)
- Proficiency with electrical/schematic design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Altium, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar)
- Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and DAQ systems for checkout and troubleshooting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment
