
Job Description
The Materials Controller is responsible for overseeing the receipt, storage, control, and distribution of materials to ensure efficient inventory management and uninterrupted operations. The role ensures accurate stock records, timely replenishment, and compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Receive, unload, and check incoming goods against delivery notes and purchase orders
- Inspect materials for damage and report discrepancies
- Label, store, and organize stock in designated locations
- Pick, pack, and issue materials to internal departments or customers
- Maintain accurate stock records (manual or system-based)
- Update inventory systems (ERP/WMS) as required
- Conduct regular stock counts and assist with stock audits
- Monitor stock levels and report low stock to supervisors
- Ensure proper handling and storage of materials (including hazardous items if applicable)
- Keep the store/warehouse clean, organized, and safe
- Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) where licensed
- Follow company health & safety procedures at all times
- Assist with returns, damaged goods processing, and disposal procedures
Requirements
- Forklift experience
- Computer literacy
- MRP knowledge
Additional Notes
This role requires flexibility of working location and will occasionally need to be based at the Third-Party Logistics Provider at Thatcham.
