Head Of Production Engineering

The Head of Production Engineering leads and manages the team responsible for productionising the ALL.SPACE products. This role is responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining efficient manufacturing processes and systems to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and scalable production. 

• Own and manage production engineering, in particular: 

• Manufacturing Support, diagnosing and resolving production failures  

• RF Calibration Systems, optimising throughput and yield 

• Automated Production Test Systems, finding any component or manufacturing issues as early as possible in the production build process 

• Publishing of engineering designs to manufacturing, under effective version control and change management 

• Work with hardware engineering to address part shortages, replacement components and other production issues. 

• Management of all Production tools, fixtures and jigs, working with other functional teams in their delivery 

• Ensure all production documentation, work instructions, test procedures, and manufacturing records are maintained and delivered in accordance with business and manufacturing partner requirements 

• Build and lead a high-performing Production Engineering organisation – internal and external staff - that supports business growth, scalability, and operational excellence in line with company objectives. 

• Provide performance management for the Production Engineering function, ensuring clear objective setting and monitoring of team achievements and challenges 

• Contribute to the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of company procedures, corporate policies, and quality management systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory, customer, and industry standards. 

• Act as a key stakeholder in cross-functional initiatives, providing technical and operational leadership to support business objectives and customer commitments. 

Requirements

• Candidate must hold a degree in an Engineering Bachelor, Masters, or Ph.D. program. 

• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment, good cross-functional communication skills. 

• Team-player, can-do attitude, and ability to work well in a group environment, while still contributing on an individual basis. 

• High level of self-motivation, enjoys being challenged and learning new skills. 

• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with changing needs and requirements; ability to meet tough goals under high pressure and manage your time effectively. 

• Expertise in the design, implementation and delivery of bespoke production automation lines, including automated test rigs and PCBA verification. 

• Capable, personally and via the leadership of others, diagnosing, resolving and preventing future occurrences of production issues. 

• An in-depth knowledge of the complex RF systems, in particular the RF, Digital and signal affecting components 

• Knowledge of Satellite Communications, constellations, modems, and related technologies 

• Familiarity with RF, Digital, Software, Hardware, Mechanical and Thermal concerns

As the manager and lead of the Production Engineering team, the Head is expected to: 

• Ensure that the team understand the wider context, both overall objectives and tactical concerns 

• Manage the team’s day to day activity to achieve the key responsibilities 

• Set team plans and objectives and report progress against these 

• Recruitment, retention, development and performance management of team members 

• Be able to organise a wider team including staff from other manager’s teams 

• Engage with the heads of other teams to ensure alignment and provide mutual support
