Director, Sites and Facilities

Compensation
$175,000–$235,000/year

Job Description

Long Wall Company was created in 2024 to accelerate missile defense technology for the U.S. and our allies. Building on the RS1 and GS0 launch systems, Long Wall develops containerized, mass-producible missile defense systems and offers rapid, low-cost flight testing. We believe that the future of global security and stability require defensive technology that is lower cost, higher performing, better tested, and more broadly distributed than is possible today. Join us.

What we look for
Mission-Driven Problem Solvers. The aerospace frontier demands ingenuity. We want Team members who approach challenges with curiosity, embrace failure as a learning opportunity, and stay focused on delivering the best solution for the mission.

Total Ownership. We seek staff and engineers who take full responsibility for contributing to and delivering flight-ready work while recognizing that no one succeeds alone. The best engineers, corporate professionals, and technicians make their teammates better. Knowing that complementary skills create force multiplication and drive mission success.

Director, Sites and Facilities

DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Director of Sites and Facilities to lead the development and management of all Long Wall sites and facilities. The Director will oversee the build-out and operation of facilities across office, manufacturing, and test/launch sites, developing world-class facilities and maintaining high standards in safety, efficiency, and compliance, while ensuring excellent employee support. The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on leader who thrives in high-growth manufacturing/operations environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Facilities, Security, and EHS teams to scale company infrastructure in support of multiple aerospace and defense programs
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Test/Launch leadership to ensure facilities capacity scales ahead of program needs
  • Develop a capital investment roadmap for facilities, infrastructure, and equipment  , including budgeting, forecasting, and executive reporting
  • Own construction projects end-to-end, including design, planning, permitting, construction, and vendor coordination to deliver on time, within budget, and to aerospace-grade standards
  • Oversee utilities and critical infrastructure systems (electrical, compressed air, network rooms, fire suppression, power redundancy) to ensure uptime, expansion planning, and reliability
  • Establish and maintain standardized facility design templates for new sites to accelerate future expansion and ensure consistency
  • Own permitting and regulatory approvals for specialized infrastructure at test/launch sites, including environmental permits and hazardous materials compliance
  • Manage the facilities operations team, setting clear goals, developing processes, and ensuring operational excellence
  • Lead physical security across all sites — access control, surveillance, perimeter security, incident response, and integration into new facility buildouts
  • Develop and oversee EHS/OSHA programs and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and internal safety standards
  • Enforce physical facilities, EHS, and security policies, audits, and compliance — including ITAR-related access controls — in partnership with Legal and local agencies
  • Oversee vendor and service provider contract negotiations and maintain full lease compliance, including HVAC servicing, fire safety testing, and adherence to permitted uses and building codes
  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years of experience managing largescale facilities operations, preferably in aerospace, defense, hightech manufacturing, or similar environments.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary facilities teams across operations, construction, EHS, and infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, lease compliance, and regulatory requirements (fire safety, HVAC, environmental, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience managing vendor relationships, service contracts, and competitive bidding processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining EHS/OSHA programs, risk management systems, and emergency response plans.
  • Ability to implement data-driven facilities management practices focused on operational efficiency, cost control, and sustainability.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across engineering, operations, manufacturing, and executive teams.
  • Must meet U.S. export control requirements - add wording for ability to maintain security clearance
  • PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • This section is an example of how to outline preferred or supplemental qualifications and should be used as guidance rather than copied directly
  • Highlight nice-to-have skills, experiences, or attributes that enhance a candidate’s ability to succeed but are not strictly required
  • Include broader competencies such as adaptability, learning agility, or cross-functional exposure where relevant
  • Emphasize practical application and outcomes (e.g., project delivery, ownership, or problem-solving approach) rather than just listing tools or technologies
  • Use this section to provide additional context on the role’s environment, expectations, or ways of working
  • Maintain consistent formatting and tone with the Required Skills section for a cohesive overall job description
  • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
  • Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone, and telepresence
  • Ability to pick up to 12lbs
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment
