Job Description

About Zipline

Zipline is the world’s largest and most experienced drone delivery service. We are on a mission to serve all humans equally by ensuring access to food, medicine and essential goods anytime, anywhere. We design, build, and operate the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, delivering critical supplies quickly and reliably. Today, Zipline operates on four continents, makes a delivery somewhere in the world every 30 seconds, and has completed millions of deliveries to date, including blood, vaccines, medical supplies, food, and retail products.

Our customers include the world’s largest and most prominent healthcare systems, governments, retailers, restaurants and global businesses who rely on us to save lives, reduce emissions, increase economic opportunity, and provide delivery from point A to point B as fast as possible. The drone is only 15% of what we’ve built to enable seamless, reliable, global operations.

Our system strengthens supply chains, reduces congestion, and gives people time back. With more than 140 million commercial autonomous miles safely flown, Zipline is redefining access to healthcare, consumer products, and food across the globe.

We operate at a global scale and are looking for practical problem solvers who thrive on real-world challenges and rapid growth. Our team is motivated by building systems that have a direct, meaningful impact on people’s lives and by scaling the future of logistics. We are seeking people who sculpt from first principles, enjoy facing adversity, and can do the impossible at record breaking speeds.

About You and The Role

Zipline’s ground systems enable autonomous operations at field sites. As a Ground Systems Field Technician, you will install, commission, maintain, and document the electrical, network, and mechanical systems that keep those sites ready to operate safely. You will own the quality of hands-on site work from installation through maintenance. Success means sites are commissioned to standard, issues are resolved and documented, and ground systems remain reliable for sustained autonomous operations.

What You'll Do

• Install, configure, commission, and quality-check ground-system installations at new Zipline sites, including electrical and network systems.
• Diagnose and resolve basic electrical, network, system, and site faults within the defined configuration scope; this role does not perform electrician-level tasks.
• Perform maintenance and upgrades that improve ground-system uptime and reliability.
• Partner with engineering and cross-functional teams to document, track, and resolve issues through company ticketing platforms.
• Maintain accurate records of site surveys, installations, maintenance actions, and troubleshooting steps.
• Manage accountability programs for tools, calibration equipment, and vehicles.
• Follow safety protocols, electrical standards, manuals, and SOPs while contributing improvements to installation standards and troubleshooting guides.

What You'll Bring

• Basic mechanical, residential/light-commercial electrical, network, and office-software knowledge, plus hands-on mechanical/electrical assembly, organization, and inventory-management skills.
• Careful adherence to installation standards, manuals, and safety procedures for mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot time-sensitive problems, develop practical fixes, and adapt to changing sites, technologies, and procedures.
• Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
• Availability for shifts including days, evenings, and weekends, with up to 20% travel as needed and 80%+ travel during the first three months for offsite or remote training.
• A valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to lift or move up to 55 pounds.
• Preferred experience through either an electrical pathway—low-voltage/network systems—or a construction pathway—general construction, heavy steel, technical drawings, and material-handling equipment; OSHA 30 is a plus.
