Siavash Alamouti joined Vodafone in March 2010 to lead Group R&D. He is based in Paddington but travels regularly to other sites where Group R&D labs are located. He received B.A.Sc and the M.A.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, in 1989 and 1991, respectively. Before Vodafone he was an Intel Fellow in the Mobility Group and chief technology officer of the Mobile Wireless Group, responsible for all wireless standards and the technology roadmap. He was also known as the champion of WiMAX and WiGig technologies at Intel. Prior to joining Intel in 2004, he was the CTO of a start up called Vivato (a smart antenna WiFi company), an held various positions at Cadence Design Systems, AT&T Wireless Services and at MPR Teltech Ltd.
