René Steenvoorden is Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the Rabobank group. In this role, René is leading IT strategy, development and delivery. The Rabobank is a full-range financial services provider founded on cooperative principles and a global leader in Food and Agriculture financing and in sustainability-oriented banking. René is member of the Supervisory Boards of Rabobank Brazil and Chili. He is also member of the Advisory Boards of IBM and ECP and supports several charities. He was board member and chair of the CIO Platform and was elected CIO of the Year twice in the Netherlands. After military service as lieutenant in the Dutch Royal Army, René started his career at Procter & Gamble. He worked in various national and global roles in Holland and Belgium in the systems department of P&G. Next, René was a senior consultant in the area of business technology at McKinsey & Company. At McKinsey, René served many clients on business and IT strategy topics in the financial services, energy and other sectors. Before joining Rabobank, René served as Chief Information Officer at Essent, the leading energy provider in The Netherlands. René studied Business Administration at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He is married with 3 children and lives in Amstelveen, The Netherlands.
