Piera Accumanno

Piera has a long history of project management, team training and organizational responsibilities, culminating from her roles in legal and compliance departments of major corporations. For the past ten years, Piera was a Vice President and Compliance Officer with the Wall Street global investment firm, Deutsche Bank Securities, where she headed up the Political Activities Compliance Group. Piera was responsible for the Bank’s macro/micro regulatory adherence to all Campaign Finance, Pay-to-Play and Procurement Lobbying laws and regulations. In addition, Piera continuously worked with internal business groups to review new regulations, the regulation’s effect on their respective businesses, any mandated requirements, and to schedule additional training for their expanded groups. To further mitigate risk, Piera designed a mandatory computer-based training program for all US employees to complete. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Piera was a Senior Paralegal Manager for 11 years with Prudential Insurance’s Legal Department where she worked with the Chief Regulatory Officer. Because of her knowledge of Federal and State legislative and regulatory processes, she was asked to develop and head up the Legislative and Regulatory Tracking Program. Piera also developed and administered the internal shared database that housed the legislative/regulatory business-specific analyses supplied by 23 paralegals. Piera was routinely invited to speak at off-sites to describe the Program and the importance of mitigating risk to the Firm. Piera began her career and honed her project management and organizational skills as a litigation paralegal with several well-known Maryland and New Jersey Law Firms, at times simultaneously managing up to 25 cases. Piera has a Bachelor’s Degree from Montclair State University and an EMBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She lives in Essex County, serves on several non-for-profit boards, enjoys speaking Korean and is learning to play the guitar. She has been an adjunct professor at CUNY and Gibbs College.
