María García-Legaz

María García-Legaz has a BA in Economic and Business Sciences from the Universidad Complutense, Madrid (Colegio Universitario San Pablo CEU). She began her professional career in the Telefónica Group in 1993 in the finance department and has held a number of different positions until being names as the Chief of Staff, heading the Chairman and COO Office in November 2012. María was previously Head of Telefonica S.A. Investor Relations (2008-2012), Chief of Staff for the General Director of Telefónica España, and Head of Telefonica Móviles Investor Relations from the moment the company was listed (2000-2006). Under her direction, Telefónica’s Investor Relations team was recognised with several awards at a European and Spanish level.In 2009, the Institutional Investor Magazine recognised her work as the best IR Professional in the European telco sector with Investor Relations Magazine awarded her as the best Investor Relations Officer in Spain in 2008.
