John van Wyk

Emerging markets offer significant investment opportunities as they evolve into the economic mainstream and it was the desire to be at the heart of the action that led John to Actis. Following nine years with Ethos Private Equity, he joined us in 2004 to establish Actis as a significant private equity investor on the continent, and is now Head of our African business. Based in Johannesburg, John is a member of the firm's executive committee. He has extensive experience in the private equity industry and has been involved in identifying, managing and executing some of the largest and most successful deals in South Africa. Prior to Ethos, John spent four years working in corporate finance. John holds a BCom and a BAcc qualification from the University of the Witwatersrand and is a Chartered Accountant.
