John Rhodes

John Rhodes is chief risk officer for Allstate Insurance Company. In this role, he is responsible for coordinating enterprise risk and return management practices and decisions throughout the company. This includes leading the Enterprise Risk and Return Management Committee, which determines economic capital requirements, establishes risk guidelines and monitors actual performance. Rhodes and his team work to enhance risk and return management by further embedding the use of economic capital in decision-making, enhancing model governance and expanding operational risk management. Before joining Allstate in 2015, Rhodes was senior vice president and chief risk officer for Lincoln Financial Group, a provider of retirement planning and life insurance products to individuals and employers. He provided strategic direction and oversight of Lincoln's enterprise risk management, equity risk management, corporate actuarial and business resilience functions. From 2009 to 2012, he was Lincoln's head of equity risk management. Earlier in his career, Rhodes served in a range of risk management roles with ING U.S. Financial Services (now Voya), JPMorgan Chase and GE Capital. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy, Rhodes served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He earned his MBA from New York University's Leonard Stern School of Business.
