Jay Yanos

Jay Yanos is the Financial Reporting Manager at NewSchools Venture Fund’s Oakland office. Over the past several years Jay has made numerous trips to the Bay Area and recently decided to uproot himself from Hawaii and now resides in San Francisco. While in Hawaii, Jay worked as an Auditor with Wikoff, Combs & Co. conducting financial, A-133 and employee benefit audits for non-profits. And just prior to leaving Hawaii he worked as an Accountant with Parents and Children Together (PACT) working with the domestic violence programs. Fiscally managing about 1.5 million in federal, state and private funding contracts he was also involved in the grant writing process soliciting funds to support the programs. He has a BSBA in Accounting and an MBA in Finance from Hawaii Pacific University and truly believes in education. He recalls a former instructor telling him that “education is something that can’t be taken away from you” and believes it.
