Jan Muehlfeit

Jan is a global strategist, coach and mentor who has spent almost 22 years with Microsoft, where he served in different executive positions, most recently as the Chairman of Microsoft Europe.He is an advisor to a number of government and international organizations such as AIESEC, World Economic Forum, the European Commission and OECD.In 1986 Jan Mühlfeit studied information technology at the Czech Technical University in Prague before pursuing a career in scientific and technical intelligence. During the years 2007—2014, he was the Chairman of Microsoft Corporation Europe as he played a crucial role in the significant improvement in relations with European institutions and the settlement of the long dispute between Microsoft and the European Commission. Due to his open, honest and transparent communication, in 2012 he was appointed an advisor for the European Commission in the field of higher education.During his career, Jan spoke at many events in 42 countries on 4 different continents. His audience varied from 100 up to 8000 people. Jan is a sought after and well regarded speaker at WEF, OECD, EC, EP, Harvard, INSEAD, Cambridge and Economist events. He has been interviewed by CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, Financial Times, New York Times and WSJ. After only one year at Microsoft, Jan received the highest company award – The President Award for Excellence. Under his leadership, Microsoft Czech and Slovak Republic was one of the best branches in the world. From 2000, he was a member of the Microsoft leadership team and in 2002 he was appointed Vice President of the company. At a time when Microsoft had the largest capitalization in the world, Jan’s Central and Eastern Europe team was rated the best in the world four times. Jan is a Vice-Chairman of the European Academy of Business in Society (EABiS) and board member of the Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Europe (JAYE). He is also a Co-Chairman of the European Industry Leadership Board on e-Skills and a member of the Board of AIESEC, the world’s largest student-run organization and an international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential.Through his training programmes and by helping individuals, organizations and countries around the world, Jan now seeks to ensure that organisations are taking advantage of their human potential.
