James Rosenfield is founder or co-founder of numerous successful firms in energy, information services and biotechnology. Best known among these is Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), an influential international energy research and advisory firm that Mr. Rosenfield co-founded with Daniel Yergin. Mr. Rosenfield led CERA’s growth as Managing Director responsible for operations, strategy, product and business development. He created and is co-chairman of CERAWeek, the premiere international annual senior energy gathering. CERA was acquired in 2005 by IHS, Inc, listed on the NY Stock Exchange. Mr. Rosenfield also founded Azima (now AzimaDLI, a SourceSquared portfolio company); as well as Xcellerex, LLC, a bio-technology manufacturing company. He is non-executive Chairman of Acumentrics. He is a Founding Director of the New England Clean Energy Council, representing clean energy companies, venture investors, universities, and other key stakeholders. He is a Selection Committee Member of the Technology Pioneers Program of the World Economic Forum. Mr. Rosenfield has presented at various international forums. including the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and the United Nations in Geneva; and CERAWeek. Mr. Rosenfield is a Member of the Corporation of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). He was a Senior Fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government (2005-2007); and served as Series Production Executive for “Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy,” an award-winning five-hour television documentary broadcast nationally over the Public Broadcasting Service. He received his undergraduate education at Harvard College and holds an MBA from Boston University. He lives with his wife and three children in Lexington, MA.
