For Fash, there’s no contradiction between responsible investment and exceptional financial returns. It’s a principle he shares with everyone who works at Actis and a creed that shapes all our investment decisions. Fash joined Actis in 2010 from Bain & Company, to work exclusively in emerging economies, inspired by their potential and his wish to contribute to their healthy development. He studied Chemical Engineering at Princeton University and started his career with Ashanti Goldfields in Ghana as a Research Metallurgist, before becoming a Research Fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering, at the University of Cape Town. In 1999, he joined Bain & Company where he spent more than a decade, working first in South Africa and then in the UK, managing the firm’s London private equity practice. But having worked in both Europe and the emerging markets, Fash knew which he found more rewarding and at Actis, he now works day in day out, with people who share his passion and commitment to making a positive impact.
