Bennett is a partner and founding attorney of Gunderson Dettmer. Bennett’s practice focuses primarily on the representation of start-up, emerging growth and public companies, venture capital investors, with specialization in corporate and securities law, private and public financings, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate partnering transactions. Bennett also helps lead the firm's China practice which opened its Beijing office in 2012. Bennett has been consistently named as one of the leading corporate attorneys by Chambers USA and The Legal 500, and is also recognized as a 2012 Northern California "Super Lawyer" in securities and corporate finance. He received his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law and also a B.A. in Political Science and History, magna cum laude, from UCLA where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa. Bennett has been involved in hundreds of venture financings. Bennett’s M&A experience is extensive with transactions having an aggregate value in the billions of dollars. Bennett’s clients have been sold to leading IT enterprises such as Google, McAfee, IBM, Sandisk, and Symantec and healthcare enterprises such as Johnson & Johnson, Guidant and Wright Medical. Bennett has been involved in several dozens of public offerings, including bringing companies public in both 2011 and 2012 (RPX and KaloBios Pharmaceuticals).
