Asanka believes in the potential of local businesses to be world beaters; this, combined with the growth prospects of the emerging markets, led him to join CDC in London in 2000. He spent four years in Africa before relocating to join what had then become the Actis India office in 2004. Prior to joining CDC, he worked at Ernst and Young Corporate Finance, Ayojana Fund Management and Crosby Capital Partners. He holds an MBA from Cass Business School, London, and is a CFA charter holder. Asanka has been involved in a variety of transactions in the industrials, business services, real estate and financial services sectors. He thrives upon the in-depth understanding he and his colleagues have about how local economies work. He enjoys using his skills and experience to work with a number of investee companies, each of which have different and diverse teams but all of which are operating in an environment where businesses are going through rapid change and growth.
