Arjen Dorland

Arjen Dorland became Executive Vice President of Technical and Competitive IT (TaCIT) in September 2011. Shell’s function responsible for driving IT-led innovation across the business, TaCIT creates and provides powerful, industry-leading information technologies that drive insight and actions to meet the world’s ever increasing demand for energy and connectivity in a responsible, safe and competitive way. Arjen earned a Master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Utrecht and an MBA from Henley Management College/ Brunel University of London. He joined Shell in 1986 following project management roles at Fokker Aircraft and Exxon. Initially working as IT Manager at Shell’s Rotterdam refinery, Arjen has since held various posts with Shell in the field of IT, including CIO, Shell Netherlands, SAP Programme Director for Europe, CIO for Europe and Vice President and CIO for Global Functions. In 2006, he was appointed Vice President and CIO for Shell’s Downstream business. In his current role as EVP TaCIT, Arjen’s technical, business and IT experience combine to make information technology a key innovation driver and contributor in realising Shell‘s vision to be the most competitive and innovative energy company in the world.
