Antonio Silveira

Executive Director to the World Bank Group, representing Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Philippines, Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago. Working at Brazilian Federal Government since November, 2004, Mr. Silveira recently served as Acting Minister of the Secretariat of Ports of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Brazil (from October, 2013 until June, 2014) and then as Vice Minister. Before that, he served on the Ministry of Planning, as Deputy-Chief of Economic Advisory, from Jan. 2005 until May, 2007. Then he moved to the Secretariat of Economic Monitoring at the Ministry of Finance, first as Deputy Secretary (May, 2007 to August, 2008) and then as Secretary (August, 2008 to October, 2013). During these 10 years on Federal Administration he worked with themes related to investment in infrastructure, including legal framework for PPP and concessions, modeling concessions of toll roads, airports, ports, railways, energy generation and transmission, amid other initiatives. At Ministry of Finance he also worked on analysis of mergers and acquisitions, supervision of the regulatory agencies and modeling financial instruments for infrastructure projects. Born at Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Mr. Silveira holds a Doctorate in Economics at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and holds a tenure position on the Department of Economics of Federal University of Bahia. From 1990 to 2004 he taught macroeconomics, public finance and history of economics thought, both undergraduate and graduate levels.
