Professor Ciechanover received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2004. He is a distinguished research Professor at the Unit of Biochemistry, at the Technion School of Medicine, Haifa Israel. Prof. Ciechanover has visiting appointments at the world's most distinguished universities, including most recently Kyoto School of Medicine, the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, the Osaka School of Medicine and the Rockefeller University in New York. To date Prof. Ciechanover has been awarded numerous prizes, among them the Laskar Award, the Israel prize for Biology and the Japan society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) distinguished Scientist Award. He received both his M.Sc and M.D. from The Hebrew University and "Hadassah" Medical School, Jerusalem, Israel and his D.Sc from the Faculty of Medicine, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel.
