Vantor is currently seeking a Geospatial Mission Support Manager to join our DHS team. This role will be performed onsite in the Washington, DC area.

As a Vantor DHS team member, you will have the opportunity to closely support our mission partners, and your work will have a direct impact on mission configuration, analytic review, user support, reporting, and coordination in and around the United States.  In this role, you'll work closely with other software engineers along with data scientists leveraging open-source tools and libraries to create and maintain a high-throughput, low latency data science pipeline.

We are a multi-faceted software development and data science team working to build and maintain a heuristic based analytical capability, along with other supporting software applications, in support of the Department of Homeland Secret Service organization.

Our diverse background of experience in mission support along with research and development serves as a catalyst to solve unique and challenging intelligence problems in support of detection officers and their on-going activities.

Prototyping and frequent, iterative feedback are core to our delivery approach, anchored by a need to ensure accuracy and timeliness in support of our customer’s mission.

Culture matters!  The DHS team prides itself on its diversity, ability to communicate ideas without ego, and fostering each other’s growth through feedback and flexibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate user onboarding, site activation, and configuration of agreed mission workflows.
  • Work with mission partner to define and maintain area-of-interest boundaries, imagery quality criteria, object classes, change categories, alert thresholds, and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor collection and tasking status for the two active sites; coordinate feasibility questions, priority changes, and service issues with Vantor operations teams.
  • Review Site Sentry alerts and analytic outputs, document relevant context and limitations, and help USSS assess potential false positives or unresolved changes. Final operational judgments remain with authorized USSS personnel.
  • Prepare or support recurring and event-driven reports that summarize collection status, detected changes, object alerts, and analyst observations.
  • Help users apply Operational Terrain capabilities, including 3D visualization, viewshed, directional viewshed, and point-to-point line-of-sight workflows.
  • Coordinate technical information for authenticated web access, Approved Product List review, whitelisting, and approved delivery workflows. Support iTAK-compatible outputs where technically feasible and agreed.
  • Conduct monthly mission reviews and recommend adjustments to coverage, analytic settings, reporting, training, and user workflows.
  • Escalate requests that require software changes, custom APIs, new integrations, or engineering beyond the agreed configuration to the appropriate Vantor technical and program leads.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Current Secret security clearance and/or DHS suitability
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field (4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree. A Master's degree may count as an additional 2 years of experience.).
  • Ability to interpret imagery and analytic outputs, communicate uncertainty and data limitations
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with customer users, technical teams, and service operations while tracking actions to completion.
  • Strong written, verbal, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work at mission partner facility five days a week, subject to facility access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with commercial satellite imagery, change detection, object-based analytics, collection tasking, or imagery quality assessment
  • Experience with GIS platforms, 3D terrain tools, viewshed analysis, line of sight analysis, or protective planning.
  • Familiarity with ITAK or other geospatial data delivery workflows and with customer network approval processes
  • Experience supporting federal, law enforcement, intelligence, emergency management, or protective missions.
  • Ability to translate user feedback into clear configuration requests and coordinate software engineering support without representing unapproved development as part of the base service.
  • Strong verbal, written, documentation, and organizational skills.
