SDR Manager, Enterprise Outbound
Job Description
TrueBiz helps financial institutions identify fraudulent and abusive businesses while making it easier to approve legitimate ones.
We work with some of the largest companies in payments and financial services, but we’re still a lean team. People here have a lot of ownership and very little distance between seeing something that needs to be done and doing it.
Most of our growth to date has come through founder-led sales and referrals. We know who buys TrueBiz, why they buy it, and which companies we want to work with next.
We now want someone to build and lead a much more systematic outbound motion.
The role
We know the kinds of companies we want to win next. Your job is to build the SDR function that gets us in front of more of them.
You’ll own the outbound strategy while staying close to the work yourself. That means deciding which accounts deserve our attention, who inside those companies we should know, what might make them care about TrueBiz today, and how the team should reach them.
Initially, this will be a player-coach role. You’ll personally test messaging, channels and account strategies while managing and developing a small SDR team. As we learn what works, you’ll turn those lessons into repeatable plays and help us scale the function.
Outbound will be central, but the answer isn't always another email sequence. It could be an event, research, an introduction, direct mail, a small dinner, or something we haven't tried.
We want someone who can build a high-performing SDR motion without turning enterprise prospecting into a volume game.
What you'll do
Lead the SDR team
- Manage, coach and develop a small team of SDRs
- Set clear expectations around account quality, activity and qualified pipeline
- Review outreach, calls and account strategies closely
- Help SDRs improve their research, writing and ability to create compelling reasons to engage
- Recruit and onboard additional SDRs as the motion proves out
Define who we go after
- Identify the companies and buyers we should be focused on
- Understand where TrueBiz fits and why each account might care
- Build and continuously refine a prioritized target-account strategy
- Work closely with the CEO and sales team on territory and account planning
Create pipeline
- Find timely reasons to engage target accounts
- Build highly targeted outbound campaigns and account plays
- Personally test new messages, channels and creative approaches
- Explore events, partnerships, introductions, direct mail and other ways to create enterprise conversations
- Help SDRs break into difficult, high-value accounts
Build what works
- Use AI, data and automation to make successful plays repeatable
- Improve how the team researches, prioritizes and reaches accounts
- Build the processes, tooling and reporting needed to run the SDR function well
- Track what creates qualified opportunities and double down on it
- Create a system that can scale without sacrificing outreach quality
What success looks like
This role is measured primarily on qualified enterprise pipeline created by the SDR team.
30 days: Understand our market, customers, target accounts and previous outbound experiments. Start running your own outbound and define what the first SDR hire should look like.
90 days: Have a clear target-account strategy, a strong operating cadence for the SDR team, and qualified conversations being generated consistently with companies we care about.
6 months: Have several repeatable outbound plays generating meaningful enterprise pipeline, SDRs performing against clear expectations, and a foundation we can confidently scale.
Who we're looking for
You might currently be an SDR Manager, BDR Manager, outbound lead or a high-performing senior SDR who has already taken on significant leadership responsibility.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has personally been excellent at outbound and building pipeline
- Has experience coaching or managing SDRs
- Wants to remain close to the work rather than only managing dashboards
- Is a very good writer and can materially improve other people's outreach
- Is naturally good at researching companies and finding angles
- Understands how to use AI, data and automation without producing generic outreach
- Knows how to create accountability without optimizing for meaningless activity metrics
- Likes experimenting and building things from scratch
- Can operate independently without waiting for a detailed playbook
Payments, financial services or compliance experience is very useful.
This probably isn't the right role if you've only managed large, established SDR teams, primarily optimize around call/email volume, or are looking for a mature outbound machine with an existing playbook.
Why join
You'll work directly with the CEO and sales team on one of the most important problems at the company.
The product is already selling to large enterprises. The goal isn't to prove that anyone wants it. It's to build the outbound engine that creates many more opportunities with the companies that should.
You'll have significant ownership over how we hire, manage and develop the SDR team, which accounts we pursue, how we reach them, and ultimately how the broader outbound function gets built.
