Non- Destructive Analysis Technician

The Non-Destructive Analysis Technician supports material analysis, tracking, and movement activities across Standard Nuclear’s operations. This role is responsible for performing routine non-destructive gamma scanning, accurately recording measurement data, maintaining required documentation, and supporting the controlled movement and identification of materials and samples. 

This is an entry-level technical role suited for someone who is methodical, dependable, and highly attentive to detail. Prior experience in nuclear materials or non-destructive analysis is not required; training will be provided on instrumentation, software, radiological safety practices, material handling requirements, and site procedures. 

The position works closely with operations, technical staff, engineering, and shipping/receiving teams and requires consistent adherence to approved procedures, accurate documentation, and strong personal accountability. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Testing & Scanning 

• Operate non-destructive gamma scanning instrumentation in accordance with approved procedures and established measurement methods.
• Prepare materials, samples, and equipment for routine scanning activities and verify required setup information before testing.
• Complete assigned scans carefully and consistently, monitor equipment operation during use, and escalate abnormal readings or equipment behavior to the appropriate technical personnel.
• Follow radiological, safety, and material handling requirements while performing measurement activities.

Data Management & Reporting 

• Compile, enter, and maintain measurement data accurately for engineering and technical review.
• Review entries for completeness and consistency before submission and promptly resolve obvious documentation or data-entry errors.
• Maintain organized electronic and paper records so analytical results can be readily traced to the applicable material, sample, or activity.
• Communicate measurement status, incomplete information, or unusual results to the appropriate team members.

Documentation & Compliance 

• Complete operational forms, logs, checklists, and quality documentation accurately and in accordance with established requirements.
• Follow written procedures and work instructions closely and ensure required records are completed at the time work is performed.
• Support traceability and audit readiness by maintaining clear, legible, and complete documentation.
• Identify documentation discrepancies or procedural questions and elevate them before proceeding when clarification is required.

Inventory, Labeling  

• Ensure materials, samples, and containers are correctly labeled, identified, and tracked throughout handling and analysis activities.
• Assist with inventory checks, sample organization, and reconciliation of tracking information to help maintain accurate material status.
• Coordinate with operations, technical staff, and shipping/receiving teams to support the safe and orderly movement of materials through each stage of handling.
• Help maintain organized staging and storage areas and communicate material status, location, or movement issues when identified.

Software Tools & Operational Support 

• Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and proprietary technical software to record workflows, maintain tracking logs, and enter analytical data.
• Learn and consistently use specialized tracking and operational systems provided through on-the-job training.
• Assist with routine administrative and technical support activities that improve the accuracy, organization, and flow of analysis and logistics work.
• Work collaboratively with team members and adapt to evolving procedures, equipment, and software as operations grow.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or community college coursework in a technical discipline is preferred.
• Solid foundational math skills and the ability to accurately work with measurements, records, and basic numerical data.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability and willingness to learn specialized technical and tracking software.
• Highly methodical, organized, and detail-focused approach to work, with a strong sense of personal accountability.
• Ability to follow written procedures and structured protocols consistently in a technical or regulated work environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with operations, technical, and logistics personnel.
• Willingness to complete training in non-destructive analysis instrumentation, radiological safety, material handling, and applicable site procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This role is based on-site in Oak Ridge, TN and involves work across office, laboratory, operational, and controlled environments. The position requires regular interaction with technical staff, operations, engineering, and shipping/receiving personnel. Work may involve radiological environments, analytical instrumentation, material handling activities, controlled areas, and use of required PPE. Adherence to site safety, quality, radiological, environmental, and operational procedures is expected.
