Role

We are seeking a talented Equipment Engineer to support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment used in battery production. This role is responsible for maximizing equipment performance, supporting new equipment installations, and helping build scalable manufacturing capabilities as the company grows. The ideal candidate enjoys working hands-on with equipment, solving technical problems, and collaborating across engineering and operations teams in a dynamic startup environment.


Responsibilities

  • Support operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of manufacturing equipment.

  • Lead root cause investigations for equipment failures and recurring downtime issues.

  • Develop and improve preventive maintenance and reliability programs.

  • Partner with process engineers and production teams to improve equipment performance and manufacturing efficiency.

  • Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment.

  • Work with equipment vendors to resolve technical issues and implement upgrades.

  • Create and maintain equipment documentation, maintenance procedures, and spare parts inventories.

  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and cost reduction.

  • Collect and analyze equipment performance data to drive reliability improvements.

  • Assist in defining equipment specifications for future manufacturing expansion.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, related field or equivalent practical work experience

  • 2+ years of experience supporting manufacturing equipment in an industrial environment.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience working with automated equipment and industrial control systems.

  • Ability to independently diagnose problems and implement practical solutions.

  • Comfortable working directly on the production floor.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs or ladders as needed.

  • Ability to work safely in manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, and testing environments.

  • Ability to operate carts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and basic facility equipment.

  • Ability to use standard hand tools, computers, and testing equipment.

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and safety footwear.

  • Ability to safely work around manufacturing equipment, electrical systems, and industrial processes.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in battery, semiconductor, automotive, or advanced manufacturing environments.

  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and industrial automation systems.

  • Experience with equipment commissioning and startup activities.

  • Understanding of reliability engineering and preventive maintenance principles.

  • Experience in a startup or rapidly scaling manufacturing organization.

  • Experience with CAD for mechanical design (Solidworks preferred)

  • Hands-on experience in machine shop environment (parts fabrication and modification)

  • Experience with continuous motion manufacturing

  • Experience with web handling and roll-to-roll manufacturing

  • Experience with laser cutting systems
