Senior Systems Engineer (Healthcare & Life Science) - New York
Job Description
Qumulo's cloud data platform manages exabytes of the world's most demanding data, unifying files, objects, and every workload across edge, core, and cloud.
About the Position:
This is the technical lead focusing on Qumulo's healthcare, life sciences, and pharmaceutical accounts. You'll partner with Sales and customers across the full cycle, from discovery through proof-of-concept, designing storage architectures for clinical care, research, and regulated environments.
The work is hands-on with the people doing the work: healthcare IT directors, research informatics teams, compliance officers, and clinical application owners running PACS and VNA systems, EHR platforms, genomic pipelines, and clinical trial data. You'll translate their requirements into solutions that perform at scale and hold up under HIPAA, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and GxP.
Responsibilities:
Own the technical relationship on healthcare and life sciences opportunities, from discovery and demos through POCs and architecture sign-off
Partner with account teams to qualify deals and shape technical strategies for clinical, research, and regulated workloads including medical imaging, genomics, drug discovery, and clinical trial data
Design architectures that meet the realities of regulated environments: data sovereignty, audit trails, DR, HA, and secure multi-site collaboration
Build credibility with healthcare IT, research informatics teams, compliance officers, and clinical application owners
Build and maintain the healthcare technical toolkit: reference architectures, compliance briefs, solution documentation, and competitive positioning
Qualifications:
8+ years in a customer-facing technical role (Systems Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Healthcare Solutions Engineer) at a software, storage, or tech company, including 4+ years focused on healthcare, life sciences, or pharma
Strong grounding in unstructured data storage for regulated environments: imaging performance, lifecycle management, secure access, and archival, including NFS, SMB, and object
Working knowledge of healthcare data workflows: medical imaging (DICOM, PACS, VNA), EMR, genomics and bioinformatics pipelines, clinical research data, or pharma manufacturing - as well as HIPAA, HITECH, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, and data retention requirements
Track record leading complex pre-sales engagements end to end in regulated environments
Comfort engaging clinical, research, IT, compliance, and executive audiences in the same room
Candidates with the following additional experience will be highly regarded:
Experience with HL7, FHIR, medical imaging informatics, genomics file formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF), or research data management platforms
Background supporting health systems, IDNs, pharma R&D, biotech research, or CROs
Familiarity with cloud and hybrid architectures for regulated data, and AI/ML in medical imaging or drug discovery
Working knowledge of CTMS, EDC, LIMS, or drug discovery computational platforms
The annual pay range for the role is USD $260,000 - $270,000 OTE plus equity. Individual pay depends on various factors, such as role level, relevant experience and skills. Pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the pay range applicable at the time.

HSA and PPO health insurance options
Dental and Vision insurance
401(k) plan
Choice of an ORCA card or parking subsidy

About Qumulo
Modern enterprises have to manage exponentially-growing exabyte-scale data stores comprised mostly of unstructured data. Someone (often IT) has the difficult job of staying on top of managing these data stores, which becomes more difficult to do as enterprise datasets expand from the data center to the edge and cloud. And while scale and complexity are rising, budgets and staff are not. Existing solutions suffer from two crucial shortcomings: Complexity and platform lock-in. Legacy solutions are excruciatingly complex to deploy and manage. And nearly every solution restricts users to running in only the data center and on expensive, inflexible proprietary hardware platforms. Qumulo is the simple way to manage exabyte-scale data anywhere — edge, core, or cloud — on the platform of your choice. In a world with trillions of files and objects comprising 100+ zettabytes worldwide, companies need a solution that combines the ability to work anywhere with simplicity. This is precisely what Qumulo was founded to accomplish.
