Job Description
MyOme’s mission is to provide clinically actionable genetic information to patients throughout their lives. We combine clinical-grade whole genome sequencing, advanced AI methods for genome interpretation, and seamless digital tools for doctors and patients to order and access results. Our team is composed of seasoned entrepreneurs, scientists, and operators, and we're backed by top-tier investors.
Position Overview:
MyOme is seeking a Senior Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to serve as a strategic and hands-on partner to our SVP of Corporate Operations, driving employee relations, HR policy, and performance management across all departments. This role will build core HRBP infrastructure from the ground up on a nimble HR team (including working in close partnership with our HR Manager, who leads Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, and Culture) to deliver a seamless employee experience and management. The ideal candidate would bring deep HRBP experience from within biotech or genomics, be comfortable helping to establish “right-sized” HR resources and playbooks; and move fluidly between advising leadership and rolling up their sleeves to execute. This person will also serve as an informal mentor, sharing HRBP frameworks and best practices with HR colleagues as MyOme's people function continues to mature.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as a trusted, day-to-day HR advisor to managers and employees across all departments on employee relations, performance concerns, and workplace matters, building relationships that let you anticipate issues before they escalate
- Partner with the SVP of Corporate Operations to translate business priorities into HR strategy and actionable people programs
- Design, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures that scale with a growing biotech organization, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment law
- Own performance management, succession planning, and promotion processes, right-sized for our stage
- Independently investigate and resolve employee relations matters end-to-end — scoping, conducting the investigation, documenting findings, and recommending action with sound judgment and discretion
- Build foundational HRBP infrastructure, including templates, workflows, and manager toolkits, in a lean, resource-conscious environment
- Act as the primary point of escalation for leave management issues and related risk
- Stay current on employment law changes — including updates from the DFEH/CRD, DOL, and EEOC — proactively flagging risk areas and advising leadership as regulations evolve
- Provide guidance on adjacent HR functions, such as compensation strategy and benefits administration, as questions arise
- Partner with the HR Manager to research and analyze HR trends and people metrics, such as turnover and engagement, to develop proactive strategies that improve employee relations outcomes
- Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with company values, fostering engagement, collaboration, and employee well-being
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in HR processes and implement best practices as the organization scales
- Provide informal, ongoing HRBP coaching and knowledge-sharing to HR colleagues, helping build broader HR capability across the team
What You'll Need:
- 5+ years of experience as an HR Business Partner or in a similar generalist, employee relations-focused HR role
- Prior experience within biotech, genomics, or life sciences required, with familiarity with the compliance considerations and operating pace specific to the industry
- Demonstrated experience independently managing employee relations matters with sound judgment and discretion
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment law, particularly California
- Experience designing or refining HR policies, performance management programs, or manager training within a growing organization
- Comfort operating in a lean, resource-constrained environment, with the ability to build processes and infrastructure from scratch
- Strong interpersonal and coaching skills, with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization, from individual contributors to senior leadership
- A collaborative, partnership-oriented mindset and a willingness to share knowledge and mentor colleagues newer to HRBP work
- Excellent judgment and integrity when handling sensitive and confidential information
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification a plus but not required
Location, Compensation, and Benefits:
- Location: Hybrid, Menlo Park, CA (2–3 days onsite). Open to considering remote candidates within the U.S. for the right fit.
- Compensation: Annual base salary range is $135,000 - $175,000, based on experience and biotech/genomics HRBP background
Benefits:
- Comprehensive healthcare coverage (Health, Dental, and Vision)
- 401K
- Unlimited PTO
- Professional development opportunities
- Company-sponsored off-sites and team meals during in-person meetings
- Direct access to company leadership and the opportunity for career growth
