Senior Product Designer - Accounting Integrations
Job Description
In 1933, Harry Beck redesigned the London Underground map. Instead of preserving geography, he redesigned it around how people actually navigated the system. The result became one of the most influential examples of information design ever created.
Beck understood that people don't need a perfect representation of complexity. They just need a system that helps them accomplish what they came to do. We think accounting deserves the same kind of clarity and simplification.
Today, people bounce between their bank*, accounting software, spreadsheets, receipts, and disconnected workflows just to prepare transactions for their books. We think that’s backwards.
At Mercury, we're building toward a future where accounting becomes increasingly automatic, intelligent, and deeply integrated into how businesses operate. Instead of asking customers to adapt to accounting software, we want software that adapts to the way customers already work.
We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Accounting Integrations team and help imagine what that future looks like. This is an opportunity to redefine how businesses experience accounting.
*Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the design vision for Mercury's Accounting Integrations experience, from early product strategy through polished execution
- Reimagine how customers prepare and complete accounting work in Mercury through thoughtful automation and new interaction models, shaping how customers interact with one of our most strategically important product areas
- Translate complex accounting workflows into intuitive product experiences that make financial operations feel simple
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Research to shape the future of accounting at Mercury through rapid exploration, experimentation, and thoughtful product strategy
- Define shared interaction patterns and visual language across Mercury's accounting ecosystem
- Raise the quality bar for accounting experiences across Mercury through exceptional craft and design leadership
What we're looking for:
- 6+ years of experience leading complex, end-to-end product design initiatives
- Thinks in systems and workflows, not just individual screens
- Learns new domains obsessively until they can challenge experts on their own assumptions
- Brings clarity to ambiguous problems and helps teams align around a compelling direction
- Experience turning highly complex workflows into simple, intuitive product experiences
- Balances automation with transparency, trust, and user control
- Brings strong product judgment, clear communication, and a high degree of ownership
- Uses AI to accelerate exploration and deepen their thinking without compromising craft
