Job Description

About Leap

Leap is one of the fastest-growing benefits solutions and a category-defining pioneer in employer specialty pharmacy. We are reshaping how life-changing therapies are delivered and financed, ensuring patients get the treatment they need while employers finally get a fair deal.

Specialty drugs and infusions represent nearly 10% of all healthcare spend and are the fastest-growing cost category for employers. Leap tackles this challenge with a novel approach: eliminating hidden markups, expanding access to high-quality infusion providers, and bringing clarity and fairness to how therapies are priced and paid for.

We’re proud to partner with numerous Fortune 500 companies and leading TPAs. Each patient we serve creates immediate ROI: lower costs, improved access, and better care. Join us as we redefine what’s possible in specialty care.

About the Role

Leap is hiring its first dedicated physician voice in provider engagement and clinical governance. The Medical Director, Clinical Partnerships exists to give Leap credentialed clinical authority where a non-physician voice currently carries less weight: leading peer-to-peer conversations that reopen patients closed on prescriber safety or policy concerns, signing off on clinical protocols and drug list strategy, and representing Leap's clinical position to manufacturers, specialty pharmacies, infusion centers, and health plan partners. The role owns physician leadership across the provider escalation workflow, the Clinical Governance Committee, and the Clinical Optimization program, partnering closely with the Clinical Strategy & Affairs team and reporting to the Senior Director, Clinical Strategy & Affairs. As Leap's partnership footprint grows, this role scales into a broader external clinical representation mandate for the company.

Key Responsibilities

Provider Engagement & Peer-to-Peer Conversations

  • Serve as Leap's physician champion for provider engagement, leading peer-to-peer conversations with prescribing providers to support coordinated, timely care for shared patients, and drive member activation

  • Own the clinical side of the provider escalation workflow, providing consistent, immediate physician availability day to day to resolve safety and clinical-policy objections and re-engage patients currently closed due to provider pushback

  • Build credibility with external prescribers through deep familiarity with Leap's programs and clinical positions

Clinical Governance & Drug List Strategy

  • Provide physician-level sign-off on clinical protocols and drug list decisions with appropriate clinical authority

  • Anchor the Clinical Governance Committee and lead P&T-style decision-making as it scales across clients and drug classes

  • Direct the clinical strategy for the Specialty Drug List and the Preferred Drug List program

External Clinical Representation

  • Build and maintain relationships with medical societies, clinical leaders, physician groups, patient advocacy organizations, and other healthcare institutions relevant to specialty infusion care

  • Represent Leap's clinical position to manufacturers, specialty pharmacies, infusion centers, and health plan partners in high-stakes rooms

  • Serve as Leap's credentialed clinical voice in larger manufacturer and health plan partnership discussions

  • Support expansion into new specialty and therapeutic areas as a recognized clinical authority

Cross-Functional Clinical Leadership

  • Partner with the Clinical Strategy & Affairs team to translate clinical judgment into operational policy

  • Set the clinical standard for protocol and drug list sign-off so decisions no longer stall or fall to non-physician leadership

  • Partner with Clinical Operations, Client Success, Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturer Relations to translate clinical insight into better provider workflows and program design

  • Advise executive leadership on clinical trends, stakeholder priorities, and opportunities across the provider community

Qualifications

Required

  • MD or DO with an active, unrestricted U.S. medical license. Residency trained; board certification preferred

  • 5+ years of clinical practice experience

  • Comfort operating in a non-patient-facing, cross-functional role

  • Comfortable operating with autonomy and helping shape a growing function

  • Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead credible physician-to-physician (peer-to-peer) conversations with prescribers

  • Experience owning or contributing to clinical protocols, formulary/drug list, or P&T-style decisions

  • Comfort representing a clinical position to external stakeholders such as manufacturers, specialty pharmacies, or health plans

Preferred

  • Experience with specialty drugs, biosimilars, or infusion-administered therapies

  • Managed care, utilization management, or medical-necessity experience

  • Prior health plan, PBM, or manufacturer-facing experience

  • Experience building a clinical function or voice from the ground up
