The opportunity:
The role of the Operations Associate is a critical part of making Flexport’s mission to make global trade easy for everyone a reality. Flexport today connects almost 10,000 clients and suppliers across 109 countries. In this role, your direct customers are the partners within your region: our account management and customs teams, subcontractors, carriers, terminals and trucking providers. Your work directly supports Flexport’s end customers in achieving their logistics goals. Most importantly, you will play a pivotal role in building the next operational model at Flexport: allowing us to effectively scale to achieve our mission of making global trade easier for everyone.
This role is designed to facilitate the movement of shipments while discovering and driving efficiencies that build and improve operations as part of our Global team. You will be responsible for ensuring that all customer shipments are executed according to plan, on time and within budget. As the person who manages movement in your region with laser focus, you have the unique opportunity to help your regional account team spot opportunities to improve and grow our customers’ business. You will drive impact through surfacing new ideas to eliminate waste, improve customer experience or introducing innovative ways of managing a supply chain.
You will:
- Be the 'front line' in ensuring the highest standard of Flexport quality: shipments move on-time, exceptions are handled proactively, and clients receive a first-class experience through timely, clear communication.
- Be responsible for ensuring your work satisfies internal KPIs and SLAs that demonstrate quality delivery, independently managing your priorities and commitments.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) and proactively flag opportunities for improvement.
- Solve client issues quickly and ensure smooth operations at origin and destination, developing solutions independently and escalating to senior team members as needed
- Act in the best interest of the company by avoiding leakages and ensuring cost conscious behavior.
- Seamlessly coordinate day-to-day operations with the relevant internal and external partners for your team's scope (e.g. carriers, vendors, customs, regional trade lane management, cross-functional stakeholders, etc)
- Execute the end-to-end movement of freight shipments within a regional network (both imports and exports), including intermodal movements.
- Assist the shipments managed by partners as we drive partner autonomy and parity with insourced operations (if applicable in a given region).
- Use data and operational tools to inform decisions, identify patterns in your work, and contribute to efficiency improvements.
Requirements:
- BA/BS Degree or completed professional training as forwarding agent.
- 2+ years of experience in operations, logistics or freight forwarding
- Have a technology (and AI) first mindset and can thrive in a fast paced environment.
- Effective time management. Be able to properly prioritize and manage a large volume of tasks.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively seek and receive feedback.
- Effective communication both verbally and in writing.
- Teamwork and relationship building.
- Orientation towards working smarter and adopting best practices and standardization.
- Problem-solving capabilities.
- A “compliance first” attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.
- A client service mindset; you are obsessed with client satisfaction, and strive to investigate and troubleshoot the client’s problem.
- Language requirement: Mandatory Dutch/French and fluency in English.
What's in there for you:
- An opportunity to contribute to one of the fastest-growing companies, where you’ll have the chance to create a global impact while being a part of a thriving multinational environment
- 25 working days paid vacation per calendar year, based on a 40 hour work week, on top of the regular Belgian public holidays.
- Lunches compensation: Flexport offers meal vouchers covering lunches up to 10 EUR a day
- Medical insurance: Flexport offers employees a group health insurance and covers 100% of the premium for employees.
- Pension: Flexport offers employees a group insurance scheme with AXA Belgium.
- Employee Assistance Program through Aetna Resources for Living: Flexport provides an employer-sponsored program at no cost to you and your household members
- Parental leave benefit: Flexport is here to support you and your families in one of the most important times in life – the birth of a child! Our parental leave program allows both mothers and partners to take time off from work for pregnancy, childbirth, and to bond with your new child.
