Senior Backend Engineer - Content Protection

Job Description

Join our global force of 400+ innovators, blending the latest in tech with the greatest in soundtracking, from our Stockholm HQ to offices in London, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Oslo, and Seoul. We’re an industry leader with a startup mentality. We take what we do seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Creating and collaborating to transform the sound of streaming, content, and culture. Come join us, and let the world feel your work

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our Content Protection team. Your role will be to design and implement systems that protect our enterprise customers from copyright litigation and licensing risks.

Our mission is simple: paying customers never lose sleep over music licensing. You will help our customers identify and mitigate licensing liabilities, proactively identifying and mitigating licensing risks, ensuring our licensing promise remains bulletproof. By identifying and resolving licensing risks across every social channel, you will give top global brands absolute confidence and control over their music usage. You will be joining a highly collaborative, cross-functional engineering team, working closely with Data and Machine Learning functions, as well as our legal and business operations teams, to ensure we have the precise data needed to enforce rights.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • End-to-End Ownership: Architect, build, and maintain the critical infrastructure and monitoring alerts for our content protection and rights enforcement services.

  • User Generated Content Monitoring & Optimization: Build high-throughput services that continuously fetch, parse, and analyze massive volumes of usage data from platforms like YouTube to monitor compliance.

  • Data Analysis & Autonomous Improvement: The pipeline we’re building is complex and still evolving, and we expect you in the data itself — querying it, spotting where signals are weak or cases are being missed, and deciding what to do about it. You’ll pick up problems no one has scoped yet, make the case for the fix, and ship it.

  • Cross-Functional Defense: Collaborate with ML engineers to develop advanced detection models and arm business operations with actionable data.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in backend software engineering with a focus on designing and scaling distributed systems.

  • Proven experience building high-throughput services and data pipelines capable of handling massive volumes of data.

  • Proficiency in modern backend languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java) and cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS).

  • Strong architectural mindset with the ability to take full ownership of a system from design to deployment.

  • Comfortable with agentic engineering

It would also be music to our ears if you have experience working with UGC platform APIs (like YouTube or TikTok), streaming technologies (like Kafka), or have previously collaborated with machine learning teams on data-driven detection tools.
