Job Description

A bit more about this role:

This position represents an amazing opportunity for a caring and experienced practice manager with an entrepreneurial streak to help build and staff our growing home based / telehealth medical group called Devoted Medical Group (DMG). Your primary focus will be overseeing the practice operations. You will work in close collaboration with the Devoted Arizona Medical Director, the clinical leadership team (located in Waltham, MA), and the practice staff. One of DMG’s missions is to bring care to where our members live meaning patient visits will be a combination of home based care as well as virtual telehealth care. You will also utilize and help improve our home-grown technology and electronic health information platform. You will help design a scalable operating model for the practice in Yavapai County and think creatively about the best ways to deliver high quality and effective care through great clinical medicine, technology and innovation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with clinical leadership to build the clinical infrastructure for Devoted Medical in Yavapai County.

  • Ensure that operations run smoothly and efficiently.

  • Help hire, train, on-board, and manage our Yavapai DMG staff.

  • Implement the back-office infrastructure for DMG (including electronic health record, fax line, and visit scheduling systems).

  • Procure all necessary clinical and non-clinical resources, and design and implement daily workflows, logistics, and operating procedures for DMG.

  • Contact prospective patients to introduce them to DMG services.

  • Schedule clinical visits efficiently in order to minimize the amount of time that clinicians spend driving between visits.

  • Track several measures of clinical, financial, and operational performance, and work to continuously improve performance.

  • Find ways to improve member satisfaction with our services.

  • Communicate frequently with team members and leadership.

  • As needed, assist clinical leadership in planning for scaling to other markets.

Attributes to success:

  • You're an entrepreneurial self-starter able to help build and run a new home based care / virtual telehealth business from scratch.

  • Confidence in knowing what you know and being able to ask for help when you don’t.

  • You have a passion for making healthcare better, solving complex problems, and supporting the delivery of healthcare that we would want for our own family members.

  • You are very familiar with different health care payment models.

  • You enjoy a fast-paced, high-energy, growing organization. Agility and collaboration are key as we will change and improve quickly.

  • You understand how to measure and evaluate clinical, financial, and operational performance over time.

  • You are committed to continuous improvement, and live by the credo “practice makes better.”

  • You learn from every experience and are not afraid to fail - that's how you're wired.

  • You excel at solving complex problems but you’re also very happy to make a “to do” list, roll up your sleeves, and get these tasks done.

  • You enjoy thinking about how to build the right team to deliver a world-class service, and how to help this team operate as efficiently and effectively as possible.

  • You welcome learning and using new technologies that are being developed in parallel.

  • Finally and most importantly, you have a passion for making healthcare better, solving complex problems, and supporting the delivery of healthcare that we would want for our own family members.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Ability to work in a startup, fast paced environment.

  • 2+ years of experience building or operating a medical group.

  • We are especially interested in candidates with experience running a home-based practice or risk-bearing primary care practice.

  • An understanding of managed care is a plus, including how to appropriately assess for Stars/HEDIS measures and identify clinical care gaps.

  • Skills to manage schedules, logistics, purchasing … all the day-to-day details of running a business.

  • Experience managing both clinical and non-clinical colleagues.

  • Experience managing a profit & loss statement and building financial models.

  • Experience scaling an organization.

  • Management experience related to healthcare operations, or a MBA or equivalent experience.

  • Extra interest in bilingual Spanish speakers or strong cultural competencies across a range of cultures.
