Job Description

Job Description

A bit about this role:

As Director of Clinical Operations and Innovation, you will be a key strategic and operational leader driving Devoted Medical’s organization-wide efforts to deliver best-in-class clinical outcomes. You will own and drive outstanding performance on core preventative care and clinical outcomes for our members, such as cancer screenings, diabetic eye exam, and kidney function testing.

Questions you may find solutions to include:

  • How do we screen hundreds of thousands of members for depression and ensure appropriate follow up care in a resource efficient way?

  • What barriers do members face in completing breast cancer screening? Which barriers does Devoted Medical have the unique ability to influence and how should we influence them?

  • How do we optimize every Devoted touchpoint with members to ensure that they are empowered to complete life-saving preventive screenings?

Sitting at the unique intersection of technology, clinical excellence, and member experience, you will translate enterprise quality goals into scalable engagement strategies, tech-enabled workflows, and high-impact clinical interventions. You will report to the Senior Director of Preventive Health with high visibility across executive leadership. You will identify and shape opportunities to improve member health outcomes at scale, drive innovations that accelerate performance, and partner with frontline teams to translate strategy into reality.

Responsibilities and Impact will include:

  • Strategy & Innovation. Design organization-wide strategies across a portfolio of clinical outcome metrics to deliver exceptional member care at scale. You will identify innovative opportunities to eliminate friction points along members’ healthcare journeys, empowering them to achieve their healthiest lives.

  • Excellent Cross-Functional Execution: Manage performance against operating KPIs and clinical outcomes metrics. Partner with Clinical, Member Experience, Product, Technology, and front line teams to design and implement solutions that improve clinical and care coordination interventions. You will translate goals into actionable strategies, and guide initiatives from pilot phase through full-scale implementation across our member population.

  • Results-Driven Performance & Insight. Leverage data to determine drivers of performance and performance variability. Your role is to help the organization distinguish between signal and noise so that we achieve our targets and understand the underlying mechanics driving that success. You will create frameworks that enable evidence-based decisions and spearhead initiatives to resolve barriers to performance.

  • Servant Leadership. Drive execution through a blend of direct management and leadership through influence, operating with a true servant-leader mindset that prioritizes enabling, unblocking, and supporting frontline teams. You will translate complex operational goals into daily workflows that set our teams - and our members- up for success.

Required skills and experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in high-ownership operator roles driving performance improvement in complex, regulated, or high-stakes environments through data-driven approaches (i.e. developing metrics & targets, analyzing trends, driving performance improvement, reporting outcomes).

  • Scrappy execution & fast cycles. You are a self-starter who prefers progress over perfection. You are willing to roll up your sleeves to fix a process manually today while architecting the automated solution for tomorrow. You thrive in environments where you need to move fast and adapt quickly.

  • Strong analytical thinking and toolkit. You are comfortable building sophisticated models to size opportunities and evaluate experiments. You have experience leveraging business intelligence platforms (Tableau, Looker, Power BI) and possess the ability to "think in algorithms” regarding multi-step, probabilistic processes.

  • Demonstrated leadership impact and collaborative excellence, with experience successfully influencing outcomes across organizational levels—whether through direct management, cross-functional project leadership, or matrix reporting relationships that require building consensus without formal authority. You are energized by working with diverse backgrounds, and deeply motivated by helping our front line teams do their best work and members achieve their best, healthiest lives.

  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to distill complex operational and clinical concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.

  • Operational architect. A track record of refining complex workflows. You can map out cross-functional processes and identify structural improvements to drive key results.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Experience learning quickly in complex operational domains. We value candidates with experience mastering intricate subject matter quickly, whether inside or outside of healthcare.

  • AI explorations. Curiosity about emerging technologies and a pragmatic approach to using them. Experience using LLMs to build complex prompts and tools is a strong plus.

  • Skill and rigor in using and analyzing data. You understand the pitfalls of metrics (e.g., how open vs. closed periods affect data, or how denominators shift over time). You are comfortable thinking in ranges and probabilities rather than false precision, and you can distinguish between a metric changing and the underlying reality changing.

Salary Range: $182,000 - $247,000  year
