Job Description

About Commonwealth Fusion Systems:

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy.

Combining decades of research, top talent, and new technologies, we’re designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants. And we're working with policymakers, suppliers, and many others to build the energy industry of the future.

We’re in the best position to make it happen. Since 2018, we’ve raised $4 billion of capital, making us the largest and leading fusion company in the world.

Now we’re looking for more thinkers, doers, builders, and makers to join us. People who’ll bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team.

If that’s you and this role fits, we want to hear from you.

In this high-impact, hands-on role, you will take ownership of process stability and defect resolution on the production floor, ensuring our manufacturing processes yield reliable, first-of-a-kind hardware. You will partner closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to monitor process health, lead root cause investigations, and manage the end-to-end Non-Conformance Report (NCR) workflow. By implementing robust process controls and risk-informed corrective actions, you will resolve complex fabrication challenges and directly enable the SPARC project mission.

Collect and analyze discrete manufacturing data, focusing on defect trending, inspection results, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) to ensure reliable measurements without relying on high-volume statistical methods
  • On-Shift Quality Execution:
  • Provide technical oversight and leadership for high-priority quality inspections during the off-shift. Execute established measurement and inspection methods to ensure all hardware strictly adheres to engineering requirements
  • Manufacturing Instruction Refinement:
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to refine detailed manufacturing instructions and Process Plans. Ensure that quality-critical characteristics are accurately documented, easily understood, and verifiable on the shop floor
  • Supplier Quality Support:
  • Support the supplier quality team by identifying and documenting supplier-related defects discovered during internal production, assisting with root cause data collection and action plans as needed
