About us

Basecamp Research is building frontier AI for therapeutic design. We believe the future of medicine lies in reprogramming the body to repair itself, and we design the models and the medicines to teach it how.

Our EDEN models are trained on BaseData, the world's largest proprietary genomic dataset, with over 10B genes collected through partnerships in more than 30 countries across all seven continents. This gives our AI models access to genetic diversity that doesn't exist in public databases, and enables EDEN to design cell and gene therapies, enzymes, and peptides directly from information about a disease. Our pipeline of EDEN-designed therapeutics, beginning with in vivo cell therapy, is advancing towards clinical development.

In September 2026 we closed an oversubscribed $140M Series C led by S32, with participation from NVIDIA, Anthropic's Anthology Fund, Catalio, European Tech Collective, Firebrand River Capital, King Philanthropies, NATO Innovation Fund, NVentures (NVIDIA's venture arm), Redalpine, Rockefeller Foundation, Singular, Sovereign AI and True Ventures. We have offices and labs in London and Boston, we partner with biopharma companies and academic institutions worldwide, and our work has been recognised by Fast Company's Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Biotech, the FT-backed Sifted AI100 list of Europe's leading AI startups as well as Barclays Eagle Labs Ones to watch, AI100.

At Basecamp Research, we pride ourselves on being a lean collaborative and global team with extremely specialist and unique skills. Our biologists, engineers, ML scientists and field explorers are united by a sense of adventure and the belief that AI, biology and data, will result in new medicines for patients who have few options today.

The Role

We are seeking a highly capable and proactive Product Lead, Peptide Therapeutics to join our Boston, USA team, initially reporting into our Chief Technology Officer. This role owns the peptide platform as a commercial product: the market analysis behind it, the target product profiles it is judged against, the decisions about what we build and license first, and the positioning that partners hear. You will sit between our model and science teams and our business development function, and you will be accountable for the peptide portfolio having a defined buyer, a defensible claim and a credible price.

Key Responsibilities

Market and competitive intelligence

  • Build and maintain a rigorous view of the peptide therapeutics landscape by segment, indication and modality, including approved agents, late-stage pipelines, mechanism trends and delivery technologies.

  • Track and interpret competitor activity across AI-enabled discovery platforms, peptide-focused biotechs, display and screening technology providers, and internal pharmaceutical capability, and translate it into implications for our roadmap and pricing.

  • Maintain a live map of deal structures, comparables and valuation benchmarks in platform licensing and co-development, and advise on where our agreements should sit.

  • Bring the outside in: run structured voice-of-customer work with pharmaceutical R&D leaders, and turn it into prioritised, written requirements rather than anecdotes.

Target product profiles and programme definition

  • Author and defend target product profiles for internal peptide programmes, specifying which properties are load-bearing, which are desirable, and what evidence would falsify the case.

  • Translate partner-supplied target product profiles into feasible research plans in collaboration with scientific leadership, including honest assessments of what our platform can and cannot address today.

  • Define stage gates and go or no-go criteria for peptide programmes, and make the recommendation when a programme should stop.

Productisation and roadmap

  • Decide, on evidence, which platform capabilities become licensable products and in what sequence, balancing near-term revenue against durable differentiation.

  • Own the peptide product roadmap end to end, agreeing priorities with model, data and science teams and holding the line on scope.

  • Define packaging and commercial models for each offering, including access arrangements, bespoke model fine-tuning on partner data, co-development structures and asset-level licensing.

  • Specify the data we need from partners in order to improve, and turn broad offers of collaboration into precise, written requests.

Positioning, evidence and partner engagement

  • Build the peptide narrative and the materials behind it: capability maps, benchmark summaries, validation packages and competitive comparisons that hold up under scrutiny from senior pharmaceutical scientists.

  • Set and enforce the standard for external claims, ensuring that what we say about validation, benchmarks and limitations is accurate, consistent across documents, and appropriately caveated.

  • Support business development through partner meetings, scientific exchanges, conferences and diligence processes, acting as the credible bridge between technical and commercial conversations.

  • Work with scientific and legal colleagues on intellectual property strategy, freedom-to-operate considerations and novelty positioning for designed molecules.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 10+years in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with substantial exposure to peptide, protein or biologics therapeutics in discovery, development, product strategy or business development.

  • Demonstrable command of what makes peptides difficult as drugs: proteolytic stability, oral and systemic exposure, receptor selectivity and off-target risk, immunogenicity, formulation and manufacturability, and the trade-offs between them.

  • A track record of shaping and closing partnerships, licensing agreements or platform deals with pharmaceutical companies, or of owning commercial strategy for a platform sold into pharmaceutical R&D.

  • Proven ability to author target product profiles, competitive assessments and commercial cases that senior stakeholders act on.

  • Credibility in both directions: able to hold a substantive technical discussion with computational and experimental scientists, and a commercial discussion with a vice-president of platform technologies, without over-claiming in either.

  • Comfort operating with incomplete evidence, and the discipline to distinguish clearly between what is validated, what is promising and what is aspiration.

  • Excellent written English. A great deal of this role is producing documents that must be right.

  • Willingness to travel internationally, typically once or twice a month.

Advantageous Skills and Experience

  • Experience in metabolic disease, immunology, anti-infectives or another therapeutic area with an active peptide pipeline.

  • Familiarity with macrocyclic peptides, peptidomimetics, non-canonical amino acids, conjugation strategies or oral delivery technologies.

  • Direct experience of AI-enabled drug discovery platforms, from either the platform side or the pharmaceutical side of a partnership.

  • A postgraduate degree in a life science, chemistry or a related field, or equivalent depth acquired in industry.

  • Prior experience in a company of fewer than 150 people.

What we offer in return

  • Impactful Mission: This is a rare opportunity to do work that genuinely matters. You'll join a talented, fast-moving team, access unique biological datasets at scale, and see your contributions shape real breakthroughs in AI and curative therapeutics.

  • Collaborative Culture: You'll be surrounded by world-class engineers, scientists, and researchers who care deeply about their work and about each other. With offices in Boston and London, we've built a flexible, cross-functional environment where personal development and real ownership aren't just talking points.

  • High Growth: We truly believe in investing our top talent, we make coaching available to team members during steep growth journeys and we have twice yearly promotion opportunities. People who are really successful here own it and go directly to solve problems at pace and we ensure reward increases with impact.

  • Comprehensive Benefits: We've built a benefits package people value. That means competitive salary, equity, and healthcare so strong that most employees' family members opt into our plan over their own. We also offer Carrot Fertility with IVF stipend, 401(k), life insurance, and more.

Salary range for this role are depending on skills and experience: $200K - $250K base.
