POSITION SUMMARY
Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy System Safety Engineer, who is fueled by problem-solving, continuously curious, and driven to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducting system level hazard analysis for the Axiom Station, Axiom Exploration Extravehicular Activity System (AxEVAS) or payloads on Private Astronaut Missions to the International Space Station (ISS)
- Conducting Safety Analyses and documenting results (Preliminary Hazards Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, Hazard Tracking, Functional Hazard, Fault Tree, and Safety Assessments)
- Generation of Hazard Reports
- Assist with the definition and maintenance of system level control strategies, including Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) strategies, hazardous mitigation, and system
- Participate in and support the System Safety Working Groups, Safety Review Panels, Technical Interchange and Change Review Board meetings
- Coordinating with verification and validation (V&V) personnel to ensure safety-critical requirements are tested at an acceptable level of rigor
- Perform anomaly and nonconformance analysis, tracking and resolution verification
- Develop S&MA reports/presentations to S&MA and program leadership
- Provide support to all Axiom programs as required
- Other duties as assigned
- Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership
- Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle
- Perform additional job duties as assigned

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, 2+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience developing and reviewing hazard analyses, fault trees, and safety assessments
- Analyzing and evaluating flight systems to identify hazards and propose actions to mitigate hazards
- Planning, performing analyses, and reporting results
- Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges
- Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high quality results

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
Requirements
- This position may require access to export controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). In accordance with U.S. export control laws, final candidates may be required to undergo additional export control screening to determine eligibility for access. Meeting these requirements is a condition of employment.

- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones
Physical Requirements
