Job Description
Job Mission
Quality Supplier Manager (QSM) is responsible for managing the quality and operational performance of strategic suppliers within the Supplier Account Team (SAT).
The role focuses on:
- Driving suppliers toward a Zero Defects mindset
- Ensuring material quality stability and availability
- Leading process optimization and continuous improvement
- Developing suppliers’ technical capability and maturity
- Acts as a bridge between factory operations and supply chain ecosystem
QSM is expected to influence both operational execution and strategic direction of supplier quality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supplier Quality Ownership
- Own full scope of supplier quality and operational performance (Q, delivery, yield, reliability)
- Serve as primary quality interface across internal teams and multi-tier suppliers
- Ensure supplier adherence to quality systems, specifications, and agreements
- Manage supplier performance using data-driven KPIs and governance model
2. Systemic Problem Solving & Escalation Leadership
- Lead cross-functional teams to resolve systemic and recurring quality issues
- Drive structured problem solving using RCA, 8D, FMEA, SPC methodologies
- Manage critical escalations (CQN, DOA, line stops) with fast containment + permanent fix
- Ensure zero-repeat mindset through closed-loop corrective action
3. Supplier Development & Capability Building
- Drive suppliers toward high maturity level and operational excellence
- Define and deploy supplier quality roadmap aligned with business strategy
- Lead improvement initiatives in:
- Yield & process capability
- Cycle time & efficiency
- Cost of poor quality reduction
- Implement Lean / SPC / FMEA practices across supplier base
4. Factory–Supplier Integration
- Drive factory-supplier alignment on quality performance and improvement priorities
- Resolve material quality issues impacting manufacturing line stability
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, D&E, Procurement, and Supply Chain
- Ensure supplier actions directly support factory operational targets (output, quality, delivery)
5. Process, Change & Risk Management
- Own supplier-side process control, validation, and quality assurance systems
- Manage N-tier supplier changes, engineering changes, and qualification
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks proactively
- Support NPI readiness and production ramp stability
6. Quality Governance & Audit Leadership
- Own and drive audit systems (ISO9001, supplier audits, process audits)
- Ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards
- Lead supplier audit planning, execution, and follow-up closure
- Establish robust quality governance and escalation structure
7. Continuous Improvement & Culture Building
- Promote Lean and continuous improvement culture across suppliers and internal teams
- Drive operational excellence mindset and data transparency
- Enable accelerated learning loops within supplier ecosystem
8. Stakeholder Influence & Strategic Impact
- Influence internal and external stakeholders through data-driven decision making
- Balance short-term issue resolution and long-term strategic improvement
- Provide insight into supplier risks, capability, and strategy alignment
- Support business decisions with quality and supply chain analytics
Accountabilities
Accountable for supplier quality performance in the GQLTCS supplier performance framework to deliver:
- Zero defect performance
- Reduced Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
- Improved supplier maturity and capability
Ensure supplier alignment with factory needs and company strategy and own end-to-end quality results, not just issue handling.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial / Materials)
- 5–15 years experience in: Supplier Quality / Manufacturing Quality / Supply Chain
- Experience in:
a. Semiconductor / high-tech / complex supply chain environment
- Strong background in:
a. Supplier development
b. Quality system & audits
c. Process improvement (Lean / Six Sigma / SPC / FMEA)
Personal Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Proactive, hands-on, and results-oriented mindset.
Ability to manage complex issues and derive high-level strategic conclusions.
Fluent in English
Context of the Position
Reports to the Team Leader of Asia Supply Chain Quality & Logistics. Works closely with suppliers, internal SAT members, and cross-functional teams. Occasional travel may be required depending on supplier base.
