Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Advanced Semiconductor Systems
Job Description
Introduction to the Job
ASML’s Manufacturing Engineering team supports the production of highly complex optical, mechanical, electrical, and system-level assemblies used in advanced lithography systems.
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will drive process development, optimization, and sustainment in a high-tech manufacturing environment, ensuring stable, capable, and cost-efficient processes from early design through volume production.
This posting includes three positions, each supporting a specific manufacturing area: New Product Introduction (NPI), Top-Level System Integration, and Optics. Final assignment will be based on the candidate’s experience and alignment with business needs.
Role and Responsibilities
Own and sustain manufacturing processes to ensure quality, yield, and throughput performance
Lead process development and NPI activities, including manufacturing readiness, pilot builds, and transition to volume production
Translate product and design requirements into robust manufacturing processes, documentation, and control plans
Apply structured problem-solving methods (SPC, DOE, FMEA, root cause analysis) to improve process capability and reduce variation
Analyze manufacturing and test data (yield trends, paretos, Cpk) to identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions
Troubleshoot complex issues across optical, electro-mechanical, and system-level builds and tests
Partner cross-functionally with Design, Quality, and Production to resolve issues and improve product robustness
Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation (work instructions, standard work, control plans, BOMs)
Execute change management activities (COs, TDNs) to ensure controlled process updates
Identify and implement improvements to yield, cycle time, cost, and equipment performance using Lean principles
Support equipment qualification, tooling improvements, and production readiness activities
Provide hands-on support on the production floor and in cleanroom environments
Train and support technicians and production staff on processes and best practices
Senior Manufacturing Engineer – New Product Introduction (NPI)
Lead new product introduction and process development, ensuring smooth transition from design to manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Drive manufacturing readiness, pilot builds, and product launches
Develop end-to-end manufacturing processes (flows, PFMEA, control plans)
Partner with design teams to ensure manufacturability (DFM)
Lead process validation activities (DOE, GR&R, MSA)
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related Engineering field
5+ years of experience in NPI, process development, or product transfer
Experience with DOE, FMEA, SPC, and validation methodologies
Experience working with cross-functional teams (Design, Supply Chain, Quality)
Strong background in process documentation and change management
Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Top-Level Systems
Support integration, assembly, and test of complex system-level builds, including laser and electro-mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Own system-level manufacturing processes for integration and final test
Troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical and system-level issues
Analyze system performance data and improve stability and throughput
Support system build, qualification, and production ramp
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or related Engineering field
5+ years of experience in system integration, complex assemblies, or manufacturing engineering
Experience troubleshooting multi-disciplinary systems (mechanical, electrical, software)
Experience with test systems, system validation, and production builds
Familiarity with high-tech or semiconductor manufacturing environments
Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Optics
Support and optimize high-precision optical assembly and test processes, ensuring quality and performance of optics and alignment systems.
Key Responsibilities
