Role and Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant is part of the ABS Financial Operations organization and plays a key role in supporting U.S. accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Perform and coordinate general accounting activities for U.S. entities in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies. Execute month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, performing financial reviews, and executing other assigned close procedures within established deadlines.
- Manage assigned U.S. government reporting requirements. Prepare, analyze, and validate consolidated financial information and submit required reports accurately and on time to applicable U.S. government agencies, including the U.S. Census Bureau.
- Evaluate lease arrangements under ASC 842, including reviewing agreements for lease identification, classification, and measurement. Maintain complete and accurate lease records in the company’s lease accounting system and support related monthly accounting processes.
- Support fixed asset accounting and reporting activities in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP. Partner with business stakeholders to address ad hoc requests, resolve accounting and process issues, and drive improvements across end-to-end fixed asset processes.
- Review check deposits, determine the appropriate accounting treatment and application, communicate coding instructions, and research unidentified or incorrectly applied receipts through resolution.
- Prepare and post journal-entry uploads for American Express travel and expense transactions. Validate the completeness and accuracy of the underlying data and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
- Execute assigned SOX controls in accordance with documented control procedures and established deadlines. Prepare and retain complete supporting documentation, investigate exceptions, and escalate control issues when appropriate.
- Perform monthly fluctuation and variance analyses for assigned general ledger accounts. Research significant or unexpected movements and clearly communicate the underlying business and financial drivers to relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations. Investigate reconciling items and drive the timely resolution and clearing of open items.
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. Ensure journal entries are accurate, properly approved, and supported by complete and auditable documentation.
- Identify and implement process improvements using Lean principles. Support finance transformation, ERP, automation, and other cross-functional initiatives that improve accuracy, efficiency, standardization, and internal controls.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing accurate and timely documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and coordinating follow-up items with process owners and other stakeholders.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. The responsibilities of this position may change based on evolving business and organizational needs.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an Accounting degree is preferred.
- At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience required; 5 or more years preferred.
- Experience in public accounting or within the finance organization of a large multinational company required.
- Experience with month-end close, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial analysis, and applying U.S. GAAP required.
- CPA licensure, active CPA candidacy, or a master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Experience using artificial intelligence tools and developing effective prompts is a plus.
- Experience with SAP preferred; experience across multiple ERP environments is a plus.
- Experience working in a global organization and collaborating with international stakeholders preferred.

- Ability to research complex transactions, investigate account variances, and drive issues through resolution.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on the accuracy, completeness, and quality of financial information and supporting documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with U.S. and international stakeholders.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate accounting matters to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn and work effect
Other Information
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement consisting of two remote days and three in-office days per week.
The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:
$63,200-86,900Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
