EXE FLS Production Engineer – Mechanical Competency

Job Mission

The First Line Support Production Engineer (FLS PE) is responsible for providing hands-on technical support to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production of EXE mechanical modules. The FLS PE applies structured problem-solving methodologies to diagnose and resolve complex manufacturing, assembly, tooling, test, and qualification issues while driving corrective actions and continuous improvement. Working closely with Production, Design Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams, the FLS PE supports product quality, cycle time, disturbance management, and root cause investigations to ensure stable production performance and customer satisfaction.

Job Description

• Spends about 75% of time in the Cleanroom providing direct support to production processes and troubleshooting
• Provide efficient response to troubleshoot mechanical assembly issues
• Provide efficient response to troubleshoot electrical cable routing issues
• Provide efficient response to troubleshoot module test and final qual issues
• Provide efficient response to troubleshoot tooling and test stand issues
• Develop OCAPs (Out of Control Action Plan), Fishbones and troubleshooting guidelines
• Support diagnostics qualification and implementation for production staff
• Evaluate and disposition failed parts with proposed solutions
• Support development of manufacturing procedures and technical work instructions
• Support design and document reviews for diagnostics
• Support DOA Root Cause Analysis
• Support cycle time and labor hours roadmaps implementation
• Support PFMEA
• Able to read mechanical, optical and electrical drawings
• The employee is required to work in a cleanroom environment:
  • full gowning (full body coveralls, hood, CR safety shoes, face mask, nitrile gloves and safety glasses. Working under ISO 9000/14000 standards).
  • Working around overhead cranes, fork trucks and motorized pallet movers.
  • Working around lasers; working with ladders; working on platforms; and working around chemicals.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering

Experience

• Prior internship or 2+ years industry experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience with complex mechanical systems in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
• Experience reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and transition to volume manufacturing is a plus.
• Experience in a production environment with high tech products and complex production processes
• Working knowledge of precision mechanical assemblies and motion systems.
• Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance analysis.
• Working knowledge with mechanical tooling and test equipment
• Experience in the field of technical Production Engineering and quality methodology such as statistical process control and FMEA is a plus
• Working knowledge of Siemens NX, Teamcenter and SAP is a plus
• Basic knowledge of vacuum systems, vacuum components, leak testing, and contamination control is a plus

Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
