Cost of Goods (CoG) Project Lead

Job Description

The Cost of Goods (CoG) Project Lead plays a key role in improving Cost of Goods performance across assigned platforms and product families. The role drives a structured CoG management framework, stakeholder alignment, roadmap execution, governance, and reporting to support sustainable cost reduction initiatives.

Job Mission

As CoG Project Lead, you are responsible for driving the Cost of Goods management framework for assigned platforms and product families. You provide transparency on progress, risks, gaps, and opportunities, facilitate stakeholder alignment, and drive follow-up on cost reduction initiatives.

The role supports sourcing, Cost Engineering, D&E, PLM, Finance, and business stakeholders in achieving Cost of Goods objectives through structured governance, project leadership, reporting, and escalation of execution risks.

Key Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Set up and maintain the CoG management framework, including governance cadence, reporting structure, input templates, progress tracking, and escalation mechanism.
  • Own and maintain the CoG roadmap for assigned platforms and product families.
  • Translate business targets into actionable cost reduction plans and monitor progress against commitments.
  • Drive CoG improvement initiatives from ideation through realization.
  • Coordinate activities across Sourcing, Cost Engineering, D&E, PLM, Business Lines, and Finance.
  • Align stakeholders on priorities, commitments, and execution plans.
  • Drive accountability on CoG commitments and escalate execution risks when required.
  • Act as the primary CoG focal point for assigned platforms.
  • Provide transparent reporting on CoG status, savings realization, forecasts, risks, and opportunities.
  • Drive management reviews and support decision-making through clear and structured reporting.
  • Improve CoG governance, reporting, and ways of working.
  • Support multiyear financial planning and cost target deployment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely CoG performance tracking.

Key Stakeholders

  • Cluster GSMs: Own CoG results and progress with Sourcing Leads; align annual Cluster CoG targets with Cluster and Regional Heads; ensure action plans and timelines are followed; attend CoG SteerCo.
  • Cluster Sourcing Leads: Drive account-level cost reduction actions, monitor progress, update CoG status through the agreed reporting structure, and present challenges, corrective actions, or success cases at SteerCo when needed.
  • Cost Engineers: Provide cost analysis, should-cost insights, cost breakdown support, and technical input to validate opportunities and support fact-based decisions.
  • Executive Management / Key CoG Stakeholders: Receive consolidated CoG progress, gaps, risks, asks for help, corrective actions, and recommendations through SteerCo and executive reporting.

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in program management, project management, sourcing, operations, industrial engineering, or product development.
  • Experience working in complex matrix organizations.
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional initiatives and deliver business results.
  • Experience presenting to sourcing teams and senior management.
  • Understanding of Cost of Goods management, sourcing processes, and product lifecycle management.
  • Experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment is preferred.

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of Cost of Goods performance drivers.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable management insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including interactions with senior managers and directors.
  • Strong ownership mindset with a results-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Other Information

This role requires regular collaboration with local and international stakeholders, including Cluster GSMs, Cluster Sourcing Leads, Cost Engineers, executive management, and key Cost of Goods stakeholders. Occasional business travel may be expected depending on project scope, supplier engagement, and stakeholder location.
