Founding Robotics Engineer (Full-Time)

Compensation
$140,000–$220,000/year

Job Description

Aseon Labs builds robotic pitstops for self-driving cars. A depot in a box for charging, cleaning & inspecting autonomous fleets directly in operating zones.

Autonomous driving is working. The operational layer around it is not. Today, fleets lose significant time and money traveling to centralized depots for charging, cleaning and servicing, creating dead miles, lower uptime and operational bottlenecks that limit fleet scale.

Aseon Pods are modular, rapidly deployable robotic pitstops that keep autonomous fleets operating near demand. By bringing charging, cleaning and inspection directly into operating zones, we help fleet operators increase uptime, reduce operational overhead and scale markets more efficiently without relying on large centralized depots.

We’re second-time founders and mobility infrastructure operators. Previously, we built and scaled Pushme to 5,000 stations across 40 cities before its acquisition by TIER–Dott ($600M raised). Aseon Labs is backed by Y Combinator and headquartered in Redwood City.

We’re looking for a Founding Robotics Engineer to help build and deploy real-world robotic systems from the ground up.

This is not a research role. You’ll work on physical systems that need to operate reliably outdoors, interface with world-class autonomy hardware, deploy in production environments across the world, and support systems that directly impact self-driving cars’ uptime.

What you’ll do

  • Own robotic manipulation, controls and motion planning across the system
  • Develop robotic workflows for physically interacting with AVs, including opening doors/panels, charging, vacuuming, surface wipe, item repositioning and more
  • Architect perception systems used for robot positioning, vehicle localization and task execution
  • Build reliable robotic behaviors around vehicles operating in dynamic real-world environments
  • Develop the control layer for robotic arms, tooling systems and autonomous task sequencing
  • Work across robotics software, hardware integration and system architecture
  • Evaluate and help define robotics hardware choices including robotic arms, sensors, controllers and perception systems
  • Work directly with founders to shape the technical direction and architecture of the company

Who you are

  • Exceptional engineer with deep curiosity for robotics and physical-world systems
  • Strong fundamentals in robotics, controls, perception, motion planning or adjacent disciplines
  • Hands-on builder who enjoys moving quickly from concept to working system
  • Comfortable operating across software, hardware and system-level engineering boundaries
  • Motivated by difficult real-world problems rather than controlled demonstrations or research prototypes
  • High ownership, highly execution-oriented and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Able to reason from first principles and make sound engineering tradeoffs under constraints
  • Low ego, highly collaborative and driven by building great products with a small team

Role details

  • Full-time
  • $140-220k base + 0.25-1.5% equity depending on experience
  • HQ in Redwood City, Bay Area
  • In-person, hands-on engineering role

Why this role

  • Own core robotics architecture from the earliest stage of the company
  • Build robotic systems designed to operate autonomously around self-driving vehicles at city scale
  • Help define how autonomous fleets physically operate and scale over the next decade
  • Join a small, highly technical team building infrastructure for one of the largest shifts in transportation

Interview Process

  • Founder screening
  • Technical deep dive on systems you’ve built
  • Practical working session
  • Final conversation with founders

Decision in 1-2 weeks.
