Founding Autonomy Engineer (Full-Time)
Job Description
Aseon Labs builds robotic pitstops for self-driving cars. A depot in a box for charging, cleaning & inspecting autonomous fleets directly in operating zones.
Autonomous driving is working. The operational layer around it is not. Today, fleets lose significant time and money traveling to centralized depots for charging, cleaning and servicing, creating dead miles, lower uptime and operational bottlenecks that limit fleet scale.
Aseon Pods are modular, rapidly deployable robotic pitstops that keep autonomous fleets operating near demand. By bringing charging, cleaning and inspection directly into operating zones, we help fleet operators increase uptime, reduce operational overhead and scale markets more efficiently without relying on large centralized depots.
We’re second-time founders and mobility infrastructure operators. Previously, we built and scaled Pushme to 5,000 stations across 40 cities before its acquisition by TIER–Dott ($600M raised). Aseon Labs is backed by Y Combinator and headquartered in Redwood City.
We’re looking for a Founding Autonomy Software Engineer to help build the intelligence layer behind autonomous vehicle servicing infrastructure.
This is a deeply hands-on role. You’ll work on systems that need to operate reliably outdoors, interface with world-class autonomy hardware, deploy globally, and function continuously with minimal human intervention.
What you’ll do
- Develop perception and intelligence systems for autonomous vehicle servicing workflows
- Build systems for object identification, vehicle localization, inspection and task planning
- Develop ML-driven approaches for understanding cleaning quality, soiling, anomalies and servicing outcomes
- Work across perception, autonomy software, operational intelligence and robotics infrastructure tooling
- Build software systems that improve robotic performance and operational efficiency over time
- Develop data pipelines and infrastructure for training, evaluation and deployment
- Work closely with robotics and hardware engineers to develop tightly integrated autonomous systems
- Help shape the architecture of the company’s autonomy and intelligence stack from the earliest stage
Who you are
- Exceptional engineer with strong fundamentals in software engineering, machine learning, perception or adjacent fields
- Interested in autonomy, robotics, computer vision and physical-world intelligence systems
- Comfortable operating across perception, ML systems and robotics infrastructure
- Strong systems thinker who enjoys solving difficult real-world problems
- Able to move quickly with incomplete information and tight feedback loops
- Comfortable with ambiguity, ownership and high-responsibility environments
- Practical, highly execution-oriented and motivated by building systems that operate in the real world
- Low ego, collaborative and driven by difficult technical challenges
Role details
- Full-time
- $140-220k base + 0.25-1.5% equity depending on experience
- HQ in Redwood City, Bay Area
- In-person, hands-on engineering role
Why this role
- Own core autonomy and intelligence systems from the earliest stage of the company
- Work on autonomy problems in uncontrolled environments at global scale
- Help define how autonomous fleets physically operate and scale over the next decade
- Join a small, highly technical team building infrastructure for one of the largest shifts in transportation
Interview Process
- Founder screening
- Technical deep dive on systems you’ve built
- Practical working session
- Final conversation with founders
Decision in 1-2 weeks.
