About Aaru

Aaru builds simulations of human behavior. Each simulation contains a population of AI agents, each representing a person who could plausibly exist in the real world and capable of making decisions within a modeled environment. Companies and institutions use these simulations to test consequential choices before committing—from product launches and pricing decisions to strategic communications and policy changes.

Building a useful simulation requires more than generating plausible text. Populations must represent real people and groups; predictions must be calibrated; simulations must remain coherent as conditions change; and the product must make the resulting evidence legible enough to support real decisions.

We are a small, in-person team in New York. We work with urgency, high ownership, and intellectual honesty. We expect people to surface inconvenient evidence, change their minds quickly, and carry important work all the way to a result.

The role

We're looking for a Technical Recruiter who is endlessly curious about people and sees hiring as a deeply personal craft.

Hiring is central to who Aaru becomes, and in this role you will own it directly. You are not a support function for our R&D teams. You bring real craft to how technical hiring gets done, and you are accountable for the quality and pace of the people who build Aaru's product.

Aaru's hiring goals are ambitious. We want to hire exceptional engineers, researchers, and designers. We hold a second bar just as high: everyone who joins should be kind, self-aware, and good to work alongside. We won't trade one bar for the other, even when a role is urgent and a candidate is brilliant.

You will own end-to-end hiring across engineering and research in the US. You'll work closely with senior leaders who are deeply invested in recruiting, and you'll be trusted to make high-impact decisions on hiring and team composition.

You'll get to know candidates beyond their résumés: what drives them, how they treat people, what they want their work to mean. You'll help our interviewers see the whole person and evaluate candidates with the rigor we apply to any consequential decision.

What you will do

• Manage full-cycle recruiting for multiple pipelines across our Engineering organization, owning every stage from first touch to signed offer

• Build deeply targeted sourcing strategies

• Care as much about candidate experience as you do about closing. Designing and delivering high-quality experiences is the key to closing.

• Run interview processes with care and constant improvement, for both candidates and interviewers.

• Own the offer processes for candidates, including extending offers, negotiations, closing candidates, and generating offer letters

• Build excellent relationships and trust across Aaru

What you will bring

• 4+ years of full-cycle technical recruiting/sourcing experience in a similar role at a high-growth technology company or startup

• Genuine care for the candidate experience

• Creative use of AI to work smarter

• Excellent written and verbal storytelling skills

• Ability to influence at various levels in an organization

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-moving environment
