Facilities Technician I for Voyager Technologies supports the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of company facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. The role involves performing routine and preventive maintenance tasks under minimal supervision, supporting site operations and safety compliance. Responsibilities include general building and equipment maintenance, environmental controls, erosion prevention, berm maintenance, and site upkeep to ensure a safe, functional, and compliant operating environment.

The position reports to Maintenance and is part of the Manufacturing and Operations team based in Penrose, CO/Pueblo, CO. This role is onsite based in Penrose, CO and Pueblo, CO.

Essential Support Functions

Teamwork is especially important in all aspects of this role as we strive for safety and operational excellence.

  • Perform general facilities maintenance tasks including minor repairs, equipment upkeep, and support of site operations per work orders and standard procedures.
  • Operate and maintain standard facilities and maintenance equipment, tools, and systems under supervision.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and site-specific handling protocols.
  • Document maintenance activities, inspection results, and work order completion in accordance with internal quality and compliance procedures.
  • Perform visual inspections of facilities, equipment, and infrastructure to identify maintenance needs and ensure proper functioning.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant work areas, including housekeeping within facility and site spaces.
  • Perform and support preventive maintenance tasks on facility systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Report irregularities, safety incidents, or nonconforming conditions promptly to supervision.

Facilities & Environmental Control Duties

  • Perform and support site facilities maintenance tasks to ensure safe, compliant, and operational grounds across all facility areas.
  • Conduct and maintain erosion control measures including installation and inspection of silt fences, erosion blankets, rock check dams, and drainage structures.
  • Perform berm and earthwork maintenance, including grading, shaping, compacting, and repairing earthen berms for site safety and drainage management.
  • Operate light equipment and hand tools for container buildouts, typical facilities maintenance repairs, dirt work, snow removal and other activities as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain stormwater management features including ditches, swales, retention areas, and culverts.
  • Support environmental compliance activities including spill containment inspection, hazardous waste storage area upkeep, and secondary containment maintenance.
  • Perform general grounds keeping including mowing, vegetation control around safety-critical areas, and removal of debris or foreign object damage (FOD) hazards.
  • Assist with construction and repair of access roads, pads, and vehicle paths within the facility boundaries.
  • Inspect and maintain facility infrastructure such as fencing, gates, signage, utility enclosures, and storage structures.
  • Coordinate with supervision to identify and report facility deficiencies, drainage issues, or environmental hazards.
  • Support scheduled and emergency facility work orders in compliance with site safety regulations and operational requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Understanding of manufacturing documentation (e.g., work orders, drawings).
  • Ability to follow written instructions in controlled and safety-sensitive environments.
  • Attention to detail and disciplined adherence to safety procedures.
  • Basic computer and data entry proficiency (Word, Excel, or ERP system).
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, general maintenance, or a related trade preferred.
  • Completion of required site safety and environmental compliance training within first 30 days.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check in accordance with company and site requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and six sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with erosion control, earthwork, berm construction, or related civil/site maintenance work.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance requirements and stormwater permits.
  • Experience operating skid steers, tractors, or light earthmoving equipment.

Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements

  • Ability to lift, move or carry items or equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods in an outdoor industrial environment.
  • Ability to work in an industrial facility environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform outdoor physical labor including digging, grading, shoveling, and operating light equipment in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including appropriate safety clothing and other protective equipment, and comply with site-specific safety requirements.
  • Ability to meet all applicable site safety and compliance requirements.
  • Candidates must meet all applicable eligibility requirements, including adherence to a drug-free workplace in compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 and successful completion of any required background investigations.

The good faith hourly range for this role is $27.00 – $27.00 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
