Chief of Staff (COS)
Job Description
Voyager is an innovative space, defense, and national security technology company committed to advancing and delivering transformative, mission-critical solutions. We tackle the most complex challenges to unlock new frontiers for human progress, fortify national security, and protect critical assets to lead in the race for technological and operational superiority from ground to space.
Forge the Future: Join Voyager Technologies
The future belongs to those who build it. At Voyager Technologies, we’re building technologies that protect lives, expand frontiers, and prepare us for what’s next. And we’re doing that with people who are wired to solve, build, adapt, and lead. These roles are not for the faint of heart.
You’ll help lay the foundation for humanity's future. Join a culture where innovation thrives, curiosity is rewarded, and impact is real. We’re a company of doers, thinkers, and builders, united by purpose and grounded in reality.
If you want to put your skills to work where the stakes are real and the mission is bigger than any one person, forge the future with Voyager.
The Chief of Staff to the CEO is the operational foundation of Voyager’s executive office, acting as strategic advisor, executive team leader, and organizational architect. You will own the executive team’s operating cadence, driving enterprise priorities from strategy to execution, and represent Voyager externally at industry events and in M&A conversations.
This role is built for someone who thrives with minimal guidance, builds capability where none exists, and consults on space, defense, and national security technology strategy, acquisition integration, and enterprise scaling. If you write the playbook, keep reading.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Serve as the CEO’s primary strategic partner by challenging assumptions, pressure-testing priorities, and providing candid counsel on decisions spanning organizational design, market positioning, and capital allocation.
- Lead the executive team’s operating rhythm: architect agendas, drive meetings, capture decisions, assign ownership, and track commitments to closure. You are the person the leadership team turns to for alignment and problem-solving.
- Build organizational infrastructure: create meeting frameworks, decision templates, reporting cadences, strategic planning tools, and accountability systems.
- Represent Voyager publicly at industry conferences, space symposiums, defense forums, and national security events as a public speaker and company ambassador.
- Engage directly with M&A targets and strategic partners on behalf of the CEO by building relationships, conducting preliminary assessments, and contributing to deal evaluation.
- Drive cross-functional execution on enterprise initiatives across engineering, operations, BD, talent, finance, and compliance and ensure nothing stalls.
- Maintain a strategic KPI dashboard that gives the CEO and executive team a real-time picture of enterprise health across all business units.
- Lead special projects as directed, including acquisition integration, organizational restructuring, and new-site stand-up.
- Exercise the highest standards of discretion, confidentiality, and judgment in all matters, particularly involving personnel decisions, M&A activity, and sensitive programs.
If your experience aligns with our basic qualifications and you are inspired by our mission, we’d like to connect. If you don’t see the right role right now, Join Our Talent Community and stay connected as we continue to build what’s next.
- Master’s degree (MBA, MS in Engineering, MPA, or equivalent)
- 10+ years in strategy, operations, consulting, or military/government service within the defense, national security, or space sectors.
- 2+ years in a Chief of Staff, Director of Strategy, or equivalent role supporting a CEO, President, or General/Flag Officer.
- Direct experience in the defense, national security, and/or space industries with a working understanding of the government contracting landscape.
- Demonstrated experience building organizational capability and infrastructure in a high-growth environment with limited existing process.
- Experience as a public speaker or external company representative at industry events.
- Experience engaging with M&A targets, integration planning, or corporate development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical undergraduate or graduate background (engineering, computer science, physics).
- Background in management consulting or investment banking with a defense/A&D sector focus.
- Experience in energetics, space systems, hypersonics, or related defense technology domains.
- Prior experience leading M&A due diligence or post-acquisition integration.
Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
The good faith base salary range is $200,000-$240,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
