Job Description
Vendra is building the AI-native operating system for manufacturing procurement and supply chain. Our goal is simple: build platforms, both external and internal, that allow fewer people to accomplish dramatically more.
We work with some of the most ambitious companies in aerospace, defense, robotics, and advanced manufacturing, including teams at Anduril, Mach Industries, Relativity Space, and more.
Vendra is now managing multiple seven figures of transactions every month, and that number is growing faster than ever.
We are looking for someone to take ownership of the financial operations behind that growth. This is not a traditional back-office finance role.
We have already automated a large portion of our finance workflows and built a custom internal finance portal that manages much of how invoices, purchase orders, supplier payments, customer payments, and reconciliations move through Vendra.
Your role is to run that system.
You will make sure everything moving through our finance infrastructure is accurate, resolve the exceptions that software cannot, communicate with customers and suppliers when needed, and work directly with the founders and engineering team to make the entire system even faster and more automated over time.
What You Will Do
Within days
- Learn the systems and custom finance portal that power Vendra's financial operations
- Review and manage transactions flowing through our automated workflows
- Send and track payments to manufacturing suppliers
- Generate and send invoices to customers
- Process and log incoming customer purchase orders
- Reconcile incoming customer payments against outstanding invoices
- Resolve exceptions where automated workflows need a human decision
- Keep our internal finance systems and accounting records accurate and up to date
- Flag discrepancies before they become problems
Within 1 week
- Own Vendra's day-to-day finance operations end-to-end
- Manage financial workflows supporting seven figures of transaction volume every month
- Own accounts receivable from invoicing through collection and reconciliation
- Own supplier payment workflows and make sure suppliers are paid accurately and on time
- Follow up directly with customers on outstanding invoices and payment timelines
- Reconcile transactions across our finance portal, bank activity, and accounting systems
- Become the person the team relies on to know the status of any payment, invoice, or PO
- Handle the edge cases and exceptions that require human judgment
- Identify repetitive work that should no longer be manual and work directly with engineering to automate it
Within 1 month
- Make our finance portal and internal workflows faster, simpler, and more automated
- Identify bottlenecks across invoicing, collections, reconciliation, payments, and PO processing
- Help define new automations and internal tooling based on the problems you encounter every day
- Develop a deep understanding of how money moves through a manufacturing marketplace
- Help build a finance operation capable of supporting many multiples of today's transaction volume
Who You Are
- You are extremely organized and detail-oriented
- You are the kind of person who notices when $42,718.23 does not match $42,718.32
- You follow through. If something needs to happen, you make sure it happens
- You are comfortable handling real financial transactions where accuracy matters
- You are comfortable communicating with customers and suppliers when something is outstanding
- You can manage a large number of moving pieces without losing track of them
- You learn new software and systems quickly
- You communicate clearly and ask questions when something does not look right
- You naturally notice repetitive processes and think, “Why are we still doing this manually?”
- You want meaningful ownership early in your career
- You are willing to learn fast. Requirements change, processes change, and we iterate quickly
- You are comfortable working with modern AI tools and are excited to use them as part of your day-to-day work
- You have used tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or similar AI systems and coding agents
- You do not need to be a software engineer, but we would like you to get your hands dirty while exploring our systems so you can help us build even faster
- When you encounter a repetitive process, your first instinct is not just to do it faster, it is to figure out whether it can be automated entirely
Your Background
New grads are absolutely welcome.
You should have a background in accounting, finance, economics, business, or a closely related field, either through your education or relevant work experience.
A background specifically in accounting or finance is strongly preferred. You do not need years of professional experience, but you should already be comfortable with the fundamentals of how invoices, payments, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliations work.
Experience with accounting systems, bookkeeping, AP/AR, reconciliation, Excel/Google Sheets, or financial operations is a strong plus.
Above all, we are looking for someone who is sharp, meticulous, reliable, and excited to take ownership. Within weeks, you will be helping manage financial workflows representing seven figures of transactions every month, so attention to detail and comfort working with financial data are essential.
If you are smart, extremely detail-oriented, and excited to understand how the financial engine of a fast-growing company works, we want to hear from you.
How We Work
We move quickly. Our goal is not to build a massive back-office finance organization.
Our goal is to build systems that allow a very small number of exceptional people to manage enormous amounts of transaction volume.
We have already automated much of the repetitive work involved in finance operations. Our custom finance portal handles a growing portion of the workflow, and we expect that automation to continue increasing. Your job is not simply to operate the system.
You will help us improve it.
When you encounter something repetitive, slow, confusing, or error-prone, you will work directly with the founders and engineers building our internal tools to make it better. The task you do manually today may become a button tomorrow and eventually may not require a human at all. The goal is to keep pushing the boundary between what requires human judgment and what software can handle automatically.
This is a particularly unique role for someone early in their career. Instead of spending years owning one narrow part of a large finance organization, you will see the entire financial lifecycle of a rapidly growing startup: customer POs, supplier payments, invoicing, collections, reconciliation, accounting, and the technology connecting all of them.
Why We Started Vendra
Vendra started from a simple realization: the hardest part of building hardware is not just managing suppliers. It is finding the right suppliers in the first place.
Before launching this version of Vendra, we spent six months building productivity tools for hardware teams working with manufacturers. But the deeper we got into the problem, the clearer it became that the real bottleneck was supplier discovery, quoting, and procurement.
So we pivoted.
Within two weeks of the idea, we launched the first version of Vendra. Apple became our first customer, and we have been growing at lightspeed ever since.
The Founders
Shan, CEO, designed camera systems at Microsoft and Apple for AR hardware, including HoloLens 2 and Vision Pro. He later led product development at Skydio for the X10 camera systems and NightSense modules.
Anish, CTO, comes from a machine learning research and applied AI background across computer vision, NLP, logistics, and defense. He previously built autonomous logistics systems at ShipAngel and satellite-data tracking systems at General Atomics.
