  • Coursework or project experience in circuit design, test systems, or electronics (laboratory, academic, and personal/team project experience is applicable).
  • Must be able to work full time (40 hours per week), on-site in Centennial, CO or Long Beach, CA until December 2026.
    • Fall Intern Program will run September – December 2026
  • Must be able to provide own transportation.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have completed their Junior and/or Senior year
  • GPA of 3.5 or above

  • Understanding of common communication protocols (Ethernet, Serial, CAN)
  • Passionate about advancing space security and sustainability.
  • Resilient problem-solving attitude.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of our GSE Engineering Internship Program, you will gain hands-on experience contributing to the design, development, and testing of ground support equipment and systems. Internship responsibilities may include:

Ground Support Equipment Design:

  • Assist in designing and developing ground support systems and equipment including racks, enclosures, test fixtures, and data acquisition systems (DAQs) for spacecraft system and component level testing.
  • Create mechanical designs for GSE used during spacecraft integration, test, and launch operations, including lift fixtures, transport containers, and interface adapters.

Electrical and Schematic Development:

  • Support the development of GSE schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical interface documentation.
  • Learn to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to guide installations and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with PCB layout design and review using tools such as Altium.

Test System Integration:

  • Support the fabrication, bring-up, and checkout of GSE and test equipment.
  • Assist with modifications, repairs, calibrations, and routine maintenance of test equipment.
  • Help integrate DAQ hardware and software for spacecraft testing applications.

Communication Protocols and Signal Integrity:

  • Gain exposure to common communication protocols (Ethernet, Serial, CAN) and learn best practices for signal integrity, grounding, and shielding.
  • Assist in wire harness design, routing, and testing activities.

Documentation and Testing Support:

  • Develop and maintain documentation for engineering processes, test procedures, and equipment specifications.
  • Provide on-site technical support during scheduled testing activities and learn operational safety protocols.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities alongside experienced engineers.

Professional Development:

  • Collaborate closely with mentors and team members to apply your knowledge and develop technical skills in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
  • Engage in cross-functional teamwork, interacting with engineers from various disciplines to solve complex challenges.
  • Showcase your work through presentations or project reviews.
  • Participate in social and professional events with fellow interns and employees.
