YOUR MISSION

As a Clean Line Technician, you will support the controlled preparation, assembly, inspection, and handling of spacecraft hardware in cleanroom and other contamination-controlled production environments. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to build and maintain high-reliability spacecraft systems from early development through environmental testing, flight readiness, and production ramp.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleanroom Operations

  • Perform work in cleanroom and controlled environments.
  • Follow gowning, entry and exit, housekeeping, FOD prevention, ESD control, chemical safety, and contamination-control requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations and report cleanliness or environmental issues.

Hardware Preparation and Handling

  • Receive, inspect, clean, protect, label, package, and transport flight and flight-like hardware.
  • Maintain hardware traceability, configuration control, cleanliness status, and proper storage conditions.
  • Safely handle delicate, precision, ESD-sensitive, and flight-qualified hardware.

Assembly and Production Support

  • Perform mechanical, electrical, and mixed-assembly operations using engineering drawings, work instructions, process sheets, and approved procedures.
  • Install brackets, panels, fasteners, harness supports, thermal hardware, mechanisms, covers, and other spacecraft components.
  • Perform torqueing, safety wiring, staking, bonding, shimming, potting, alignment, and mechanical fastening.
  • Support spacecraft subsystem integration, closeouts, access-panel installation, and production-line activities.
  • Maintain accurate build records, inspection documentation, travelers, checklists, and electronic production records.

Inspection and Quality

  • Perform visual, dimensional, workmanship, cleanliness, and configuration inspections.
  • Verify part numbers, serial numbers, revision levels, tool calibration status, and required documentation.
  • Identify, contain, and document hardware discrepancies, process deviations, foreign object debris, and nonconforming conditions.
  • Support nonconformance investigations, root-cause analysis, rework, repair, and corrective-action activities.
  • Partner with quality and engineering teams to ensure hardware meets drawing, procedure, and customer requirements.

Test and Integration Support

  • Support functional checks, fit checks, alignment checks, deployment testing, mass-properties activities, and other spacecraft test operations.
  • Assist with setup and teardown of test hardware, fixtures, instrumentation, and ground-support equipment.
  • Support vibration, acoustic, thermal-vacuum, and other environmental testing as required.
  • Follow approved test procedures and accurately record test results, measurements, observations, and discrepancies.
  • Support hardware closeout, post-test inspection, rework, and return-to-service activities.

Tools, Fixtures, and Equipment

  • Operate, inspect, clean, and maintain hand tools, torque tools, precision measurement equipment, lifting equipment, fixtures, and ground-support equipment.
  • Verify calibration and serviceability of tools and equipment before use.
  • Support the improvement of tooling, fixtures, workstations, processes, and work instructions.
  • Assist with material movement and lifting operations in accordance with approved safety procedures.

Safety and Continuous Improvement

  • Follow all company and facility requirements for ESD, FOD, cleanroom operations, chemical handling, lifting and handling, PPE, and hazardous materials.
  • Work safely around energized systems, sensitive flight hardware, chemicals, test equipment, and specialized manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide feedback on drawings, work instructions, assembly processes, tooling, and production methods.
  • Participate in 5S, lean manufacturing, process-improvement, and production-readiness activities.
  • Communicate clearly with technicians, engineers, quality personnel, and production leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical degree, certificate, apprenticeship, military training, or equivalent experience in manufacturing, mechanical, aerospace, electronics, composites, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in cleanroom manufacturing, aerospace, spacecraft, defense, medical devices, semiconductor, automotive, precision manufacturing, or another high-reliability production environment.
  • Experience following detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, process specifications, travelers, inspection procedures, or test procedures.
  • Experience working in cleanroom, ESD-sensitive, FOD-critical, or contamination-controlled environments.
