Right now, we are experiencing rapid growth and are seeking a bright and energised Battlespace System Administrator to join our inspired team.
In this role, you will contribute to the critical outcomes of the Australian Defence Force by delivering complex, state-of-the-art programs designed to keep Australia safe.
Working across multiple operating systems, Windows, Linux and Unix the Battlespace Administrator is a critical role for ensuring the continued operation of the Battlespace Surveillance Centre (BSC) at the RAAF Edinburgh base. This includes managing and maintaining mission system services, performing day-to-day operational and administrative tasks, monitoring system availability and capacity, incident management, problem diagnoses and resolution, backups/patch management and cyber security while complying with change management procedures and working in a defence environment.
Your hours of work shall average 38 hours per week over a defined work cycle, including days & nights on all days of the week from Monday to Sunday.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides the technical operations for BSC’s complex IT server and communication solutions that comply with Raytheon and Defence technical standards and security policies.
- Manages system accounts, permissions and directory operations and ensure service delivery staff have the necessary up-to-date information for account administration activities.
- Provides the technical input into the development and maintenance of Disaster Recovery Plans & Business Continuity Plans for server and communication infrastructure.
- Monitors system performance.
- Manages software installation, configuration and updates for operating systems, firmware, and software applications including security updates as directed by configuration management authority.
- Performs system and network configuration maintenance.
- Manages backup and recovery protocols.
- Installs and manages firewall and intrusion-detection monitoring systems.
- Manages backup system to safeguard critical data collection.
- Performs advanced troubleshooting and network problem resolution in coordination with maintainers.
- Coordinates with and provides support for depot-level maintenance actions.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Relevant Certificate IV/Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years prior relevant experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in a Systems Administration 2nd / 3rd Level support role (UNIX, Linux and Microsoft).
- Experience in monitoring a complex IT environment.
- Experience in diagnosing networking fault.
- Preferably hold a number of relevant industry qualifications such as:
- DoD approved 8570 IAT Level II Baseline Certifications.
- Microsoft Certified System Associate (MSCA).
- Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA).
- Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA).
- Security (CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security).
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 2 Security Clearance as needed. Eligibility can be found at https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-suitability
