ComplyDo is a YC-backed startup based in Berlin building the AI-native operating system for enterprise compliance.

We're working with leading enterprise customers, processing hundreds of regulations and standards, and growing fast. Now we're looking for exceptional engineers who want to help scale the product, solve hard technical problems, and build a company that can define an entire category.

You'll join a small, ambitious team with a lot of ownership, work directly with customers, ship quickly, and help shape both the product and the engineering culture from the ground up.

The Role

As a Software Engineer at ComplyDo, you own things end to end. You take a user problem, shape the solution, build it across the stack, ship it, and stay close to it after release.

You will work closely with the founders and all the team members. This is not a role where you wait for a task, you start from day 1.

We are a seed-stage company. That means the work is real, the scope is wide, and the impact is immediate. If you want to compound your skills fast and work on something that genuinely helps people, this is the right place.

What You Will Work On

You will work across our core product: Orchestrating agents, user-facing workflows, and the compliance surfaces that sit on top of them. Examples of the kind of work you will own:

• AI Agents for compliance tasks. Building and improving agents that can interpret regulatory requirements, guide users through processes, or map regulatory requirements to company internal descriptions.
• User-facing UI/UX. Designing and building interfaces that make compliance workflows feel simple and obvious.
• Workflow automation. Multi-step automations with agents, conditions, structured outputs, and human-in-the-loop moments where users stay in control.
• Document and data handling. Helping users upload, organize, and extract meaning from the compliance documents that govern their work.
• Internal tooling. The infrastructure that helps us move fast: evals, observability, testing harnesses for agents behavior.

During your work at ComplyDo you will touch upon ALL those areas.

Tech Stack

• Frontend: TypeScript, Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS
• Backend: Python, MongoDB, Neo4j
• AI layer: LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.), LangChain, LangGraph, …

You do not need to know all of this. We trust you to pick up what you do not know quickly.

How We Work

• Small, focused squads. We form around a problem, ship, and move on.
• Continuous deployment to production. We do not wait.
• Engineers join user calls and sit with real users. Feedback is direct and immediate.
• We use AI tools heavily: Cursor, Claude, Codex, whatever makes you faster. We expect you to have a workflow and not just vibe code with those tools.
• The engineer who ships a change owns it in production.

What We Are Looking For

Must have:

• Genuine passion for AI: you follow the space, you experiment, you have opinions.
• Ability to build UI/UX that feels good, not just functional. You care about how things look and feel, not just whether they work.
• Able to go from a vague problem to a shipped feature. You scope, decide, build, and iterate.
• A bias to action. You do not wait to be told what to do next.

Good to have:

• Some professional experience building and shipping software (internships, freelance, or full-time: we care about what you built, not how long you have been doing it).
• Side projects, hackathon wins, open source contributions, or anything you built because you were curious.
• Familiarity with compliance, legal tech, or regulated industries, but not required.

We are not looking for:

• Someone who needs years of experience to feel confident. We care about drive and curiosity not a CV.
• Someone who prefers to be handed a detailed spec and execute. We want people who help write the spec.

We work in person in Berlin. We believe hard problems get solved faster at a whiteboard than in a Slack thread.
